@eff I think what that headline /means/ to say is, "Congress must stop lobbying, and must explicitly invalidated the SCOTUS "'Citizens United' ruling." The USPTO is an Executive Branch entity. The President is at liberty to set its agenda. Apparently the $(PRESIDENT} Administration doesn't see that knife-and-fork patents stifle innovation and necessitate needless expenditure across the economy.

@itsfoss It was along time ago... Late 90s... I really didn't run into any serious problems. There was some sound hardware I couldn't get to work... but as long as I paid attention to the "known working hardware" lists when setting up new machines, or buying new boards... it all pretty-much worked. To this day I have not had any success setting up advanced audio hardware or any kind of DAW on Linux, but other than that... it's been great.

@itsfoss Gaming is really low on my priorities list. Ubuntu seems to run Steam OK... I don't like Snaps, but... meh.

@itsfoss I have never felt as sad as that ...fish(?)... looks when I have bulldozed pre-nstalled MS Windows on a laptop. My first laptop that came with MS Windows 10, I kept Windows around just long enough to make a re-install flash, and then whomp. Not a crumb of sadness. Joy, really.

@Tekchip @LLS I'm squarely, deeply, and firmly in the "no, thank you" camp on that particular feature, in general, and /especially/ "no, thank you" at the prospect of trusting Microsoft to not "accidentally" telemeter that data up to the mothership. Your mileage may vary, of course.
