In my experience (and therefore my opinion as it relates to my own thoughts and feelings), *it’s ineffable *and that is one of the reasons that it is so hard to communicate even mild dysphoria to people who don’t experience it.
Solving problems like this involve at least two different approaches which must be undertaken in order to achieve actual positive change – acute remediation and structural change. Newsome et. al are ignoring the latter while you choose to eschew the need for the former; you’re both wrong.
That’s fair. It’s really unfortunate that political incentives are misaligned in situations like this. Arresting a lot of people now doesn’t solve anything long term, but it looks good and is good for reelection; meanwhile, actual permanent change will take programs and policies that take a decade or longer to go into effect – so all the public sees is the current guy spending money and then the results get to be claimed by the next governor or the one after that.
You’re spot on. I have so many issues with the storytelling methodology, the decisions about how to treat the ST Universe and its canon, the use of the characters to tell the stories they chose, and more; but, it has been so hard to voice legitimate criticism of the show and the creators’ decisions because you always seem to end up lumped in with a bunch of chuds who are just upset about the diversity in the cast (which blows my mind, because it’s no more groundbreaking than a lot of other Trek, relative to the time of airing).

Israel’s prosecution of its current conflict has significantly depleted those stockpiles of armaments to the point that they no longer constitute such a quantum as to provide adequate deterrence to an attack.
