@VModifiedMind I can only speak for locally but alarms with SIM + Internet seems to be the default around here now and work reliably. I assume there was a cost to the owners to move from old monitoring.
Lifts, good question.. though I suspect similar or SIM only. Again not free to change equipment.
There was a cost at my grandads too. The cost to go fully IP rather than plug his old BT base into the routers ATA.. but that was in the effort to obtain the best call quality possible.
@VModifiedMind congested ADSL.. that's a tricky one and needs skill and correct routing OS to apply reasonable packet scheduling to allow calls to be OK during heavy upload or download.
Finally. Apple "we care about the environment" will stop bundling the apple stickers with everything that the vast majority of people never use or care about.
Imagine what they could do it they took the environment seriously.
@VModifiedMind as someone who has just had to remove 80 Apple stickers from iPad boxes so that the iPad boxes could be recycled by fully support this change. It was the only item other than the technology in the box which couldn't be recycled. And it's buried within the largest number of layers to get them out.

Companies really are taking the piss with the amount of correspondence they send and how little they think your time is worth.
So many tedious and boring processes that have very little benefit but are increasingly arduous and require following a billion steps to do something you used to get done in a few seconds.
@VModifiedMind It's bad around here but no worse than any other year. I don't know why they've not just resurfaced one of the roads fully. It always has pothole problems this time of year and has never been resurfaced in 20 years, just constantly patched up.
