Schools are all about conformity and enforcing arbitrary rules. Schools are designed to made you docile and get used to bullshit so you're less likely to revolt in your job.

I'd also welcome some basic descriptions. Some titles are pretty obscure to people who don't know what it is, but still might be interested. Especially the abbreviations like crcg or whatever.

Well, it's not like that's stopping anyone from spinning up one here.

This community has no affiliation with any of the Reddit subs either. In fact I had pinged mods of all four star wars meme Reddit subs about moving to Lemmy, and neither has even responded.

I hate how everyone wants email these days. I bloody hate email in principle. If websites at least had options for Discord or Matrix or Session verification.

That's extra work, throwaway services are often blocked, and it also defeats the purpose of having a backup contact in case of loss passwords etc.

But as I said, I hate email in general and wish there were at least other options to "verify my humanity" or for those other purposes email is used.

I already have 2 domain names each with infinite email assesses, 2 Tutanota mails and 1 Proton... Not counting any work accounts... I'm not hurting for email. I want LESS :P

That's why I'm saying it would be nice if web services provided alternatives.

I was once around a web site that was moving from open to an account system. I suggested to the owner to offer Discord verification in addition to email, and they actually did, within like a couple hours. It's not impossible.

Hey there. I run the !health community with a pinned list of health-related communities.

There are 2 comms for blindness and vision impairment. Should I include this one among those or into a new category? Still trying to figure out categories.

I'll place it under vision for the time being, and I guess we'll see how it develops. Communities can grow into other things than were intended. I'm not familiar with the original Reddit sub and I'm not seeing any askdocs-style communities here yet.

Meanwhile feel free to make a post at !health introducing your community (or I can, but you'll probably describe it better).
