Zarxrax,

Always have to take what he says with a grain of salt. I remember last year when he said they were a few weeks away from releasing a model that was like 30x faster.

Zarxrax,

Well shit, they finally released the thing he was talking about a year ago.

Zarxrax,

At the moment, it doesn’t really seem to be that much better. Maybe the frames generated are a little more coherent, but you have less control over it. And from what I have seen so far, it just does very simple motions, like billowing smoke, a turning head, or clouds moving through the sky.

Zarxrax, (edited )

I’ve been seeing plenty of threads on lemmy.world. I just rarely have anything worth adding to a conversation.

Zarxrax,

This is the dude from zero punctuation!

Zarxrax,

Been trying this with my local comfy installation. It’s a lot of fun! For some reason it tells me I don’t have control net installed, even though I installed the stuff listed on the GitHub page.

Now I need to try to learn to paint in krita a little better

Zarxrax,

Super Mario Wonder. It was an enjoyable game, but just too easy, and no reason to keep playing once you finish. There were only maybe 3 stages in the entire game that offer a real challenge. It would be so much more replayable if it just had a time trial mode or something.

Zarxrax,

I think there is a middle ground though. It’s fine to have easy settings to help people get though a game if they want. The online functionality in Mario wonder, and the ability of Yoshis to not take damage are great examples of that. But on the other hand, I also don’t want to just steamroll the game, fully clearing most of the stages in a matter of minutes. How many man hours of work did they put into each of these stages, just for me to blaze through it in 3 minutes and then never look back?

Like I previously mentioned, something as simple as just a time trial mode could give me an actual incentive to go back and enjoy the content a little more.

Zarxrax,

I feel like the issue could be largely resolved if developers would just make a lot of the downloads optional. For as long as I remember, installers for PC applications have given the user options for which parts of the applications they want to install. Yet for games these days, they just take an all or nothing approach. Let me skip the ultra textures, and all the extra choices in languages I don’t need. It seems like it should be such an easy thing to implement!

Zarxrax,

There is an edit post button, so I’m not sure what you are talking about. Have you tried clicking the edit post button?

Zarxrax,

Lol, 4 move solution, that’s so ridiculous. I wonder how long it will be before we get a sub-1 average.

Zarxrax,

I know Vivaldi (the web browser company) hosts a Mastadon server. That’s what got me to start looking into Mastadon initially.

Zarxrax,

I owned every Nintendo handheld since the original Gameboy. They were so convenient to just be able to play anywhere. I could be laying in bed or on the sofa. Put it in your pocket or toss it into a bag to carry with you.

However, I don’t really feel like the switch has really captured that same sense of portability. It’s large and bulky and heavy. It feels uncomfortable for me to play the same ways I used to play the older handhelds. It also feels more fragile, so I’m hesitant to just toss it in a bag. I ended up just using it as a normal console 99% of the time.

Maybe it’s just me being older, but I feel like the switch didn’t give us the best of both worlds, it just compromised and gave us a worse version of a handheld and a worse version of a console.

Zarxrax,

Once you learn the layout of the map it’s not really that tough. As a kid it was pretty common to just play over and over again, so it doesn’t really take all that long to learn where the bombs are. It was the following level that I couldn’t ever beat…

Zarxrax,

YouTube ads might frustrate some viewers, but have you ever tried using peertube? I think videos just not working at all would frustrate viewers more than some ads.

Zarxrax,

Like a week ago, the company behind Odyssey lost a lawsuit and will be shutting down. As of now, no one knows what happens to Odyssey in the future. Maybe some other company buys it and continues to run it. Maybe it changes into something totally different. Maybe it just shuts down.

Zarxrax,

With the huge improvements that have been putting into their drivers, I think their 2nd generation cards will actually be worth getting. At least in comparison to a Radeon.

Zarxrax,

Wow, this is news to me. I found it so useful to be able to see all of my financial information in one place. I don’t want to have to open up 4 or 5 sites all the time just to make sure my bills are getting paid and I don’t have any fraudulent transactions.

Zarxrax,

Well, looks like they have finally succeeded in killing off the tournament scene. There will probably still be some holdouts trying to adhere to the ridiculous rules, but this is effectively the end.

Zarxrax,

What do you mean? I run the normal SDXL on 12gb vram.

Gamers who have gamed for a long time

do you find it difficult to get into games? I’ve got Epic Games and Steam Games libraries chock-full of classic top-tier games along with many other newer games like Stray or 2077, and a bunch of indie titles. I just can’t be bothered to download and install them, much less try to get into the characters and storylines. Used...

Zarxrax,

I feel like a lot of games these days make it difficult to get into, ironically by trying too hard to make it easy to get into, with excessive tutorialization. Part of it might also be the types of games that you like. For example, I want to play a game to have fun and challenge myself, not to sit around watching a story play out for a half hour while I walk around doing nothing. So the majority of popular games that people are always talking about are the kind of games that I would absolutely hate. I want to just jump in and play. The new Super Mario Wonder game is a pretty good example of something that just gets out of your way and lets you play the game, so I have been enjoying it quite a bit for the past few days. The recent F-zero 99 is also an enjoyable racing game for me, for the same reasons. I have also been getting into fighting games more in the past few years, so I’ve been playing Street Fighter 6 a lot.

So the most important thing I have learned, is that I can no longer just look at which games are considered “good”, because in many cases I’m going to hate them. When I was younger, I would love just about any of the popular games. But now, I know what I like, and that’s what I gravitate to.

Zarxrax,

Jockey’s Ridge was probably the most different from anything else. Its just hills of sand. You get out there and it feels like you are lost in the desert. You can do hang gliding and stuff too.

If you have a long weekend, Stone Mountain, Pilot Mountain, and Hanging Rock are located fairly close to each other, and were all quite memorable for me. We stayed at Mount Airy when we went there, as it is centrally located between the three parks.

At the dismal swamp state park, we encountered a ton of deer as we were hiking on the “Supple-Jack Trail”. I don’t know if they are just active at this time of year, or really abundant in that area, but we probably saw at least 10, and kept coming up on them as we walked the trail, often startling both us and the deer!

We mostly stuck to light-to-moderate hiking for the most part, but there are a variety of different types of things to do, depending on the park. Some are historic forts where you can experience a bit of history. There is boating and fishing. A few even have some good mountain biking trails.

Also, while its technically not a “state park” for some reason, the DuPont state recreational forest is really cool too, and definitely worth visiting.

Here are a few of the resources that I found helpful when I was researching parks to visit:

Zarxrax,

I literally just started uploading my content on odysee a matter of days ago. Thought I finally found a decent YouTube alternative.
