It's kind of ironic how we are diving into French cooking and wine and I literally cannot understand the atrocious sounds that come out of my boyfriend's mouth thanks to Katakana. I've had to be like "no just show me the French. I'll make do with my Spanish background."

It does help with some pronunciation bias I have thanks to Spanish, but katakana wipes all essence away.

listening to these two interviews the difference you hear between the Israeli and the Palestinian is that the Israeli is absolutely shocked to have her home destroyed and the Palestinian is exhausted from decades of it. Both are living horrific tragedies right now but that distinction feels pretty important - she even says at some point “I’m used to hearing shelling in Gaza, but usually we are safe here on the Israeli side of the blockade” 😔

@seachanger Something very interesting I noted as I was catching up on my news headlines and stories via podcast was that the Nightly News from NBC has quickly shifted to speaking out loudly about how Palestinians have been suffering for decades. I'm glad to see that at least some sources are starting to sound the alarm that average Palestinians are innocent and have suffered for decades at the hands of Israel.

My US tax accountant got back to me and mmmm it's all bad news. The IRS and the US are literally doing everything in their power to make Americans abroad suffer and struggle at every single twist and turn. Yes, I can do things, but it's going to take time, money, and be very frustrating. 😮‍💨 Yet here I am at every single turn getting ready to make myself live in hell until I'm pushed to give up citizenship.

WHELP. iDeco started months ago and I was only ever able to invest in funds seeeeewwwww, that's going to trigger PFIC taxes. Greeaaattttt. Can't wait for that shit to hit.

I did speak to him and I'm going to have a face-to-face tomorrow (the guy is a Saint and does all consulting for free) but Jesus Mary and Joseph, it seems like from what he's saying that I can do what I would like, but I have to be exceedingly careful to make sure I report every single gain and move made.

my September income (= translation sales) was a bit over half of August income

but that came with me:

  • taking it easy for a couple of days after the summer heat (also read as me playing Baldur's Gate 3)
  • looking after the family after partner got covid around Sep 12
  • looking after youngest who got hand/foot/mouth disease and was mostly eating pudding and yogurt for a few days due to a mouth sore

so, pretty decent all-in-all. Partner also doing better 3 weeks later.
