_spiffy,

My daughter just graduated from Kindergarten! I am so proud of how far she has come, but she is already anxious about Grade One. Does anyone have advice on how to help with that?

_spiffy,

I would blast through the main story and save the side quests for later.

_spiffy,

Not really, getting the story done faster gets you the horse which helps and the side quests can all be done after the fact.

_spiffy,

I hope that with future versions of lemmy they can create "lists" that people can subscribe to that will do this.

or at least let you add communities to your own lists that do that.

_spiffy,

You could group them and look at everything "outdoors" related from multiple communities in a single feed.

_spiffy,

I am excited for this. I hope it is as enjoyable as the original seasons of it!

_spiffy,

I think part of the problem is the big influx of people. They weren't prepared and now they are trying their best to keep up.

_spiffy,

The xp boost is nice. I only made it to 61 before the grind got to be boring.

"However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon" I've been trying to do this for ten minutes and still can't figure it out

Supposedly I can subscribe to stuff from *fediverse accounts on other instances, in fact it's one of the main selling points of the fediverse, but I can't for the life of me figure out how....

_spiffy,

In order to subscribe to another instances communities you still need to be on your community. For example if you click a link that takes you to https://lemmy.ml/c/announcements it will take you to lemmy.ml where you are not logged in, however if you click on the community name is a post that shows up in your feed, you will browse that community FROM lemmy.world.

You could also browse like this:

https://lemmy.world/c/announcements@lemmy.ml

_spiffy,

I just set up obs as a virtual webcam and do that. It doesn't do audio but most of the time that doesn't matter. I find it has a much smaller performance hit that screen sharing via Discord itself.

_spiffy,

I love this. My steam deck has been a life saver and all these changes also let's me game on my desktop.

_spiffy,

I use it to play pretty much whatever I want to play while I am away from the house. I use it to play Northgard in the evenings on the couch with my wife and I dock it to the TV to let the kids play Human Fall Flat, Brawlhalla, Untitled Goose Game and Golf With Your Friends.

It Lets me sit on the deck and play diablo while the kids are playing in the yard.

I am also an avid linux desktop user so I get to play all this stuff on my gaming PC when I get the chance as well.

Should we make communities for specific games?

Something I miss from Reddit was that just about all my favorite games had their own subreddits. Like I happen to be a huge fan of Snowrunner but I don’t see any communities specifically about Snowrunner on Lemmy. But Elden Ring has a community on 2 instances with less than 100 subs total. I think the one hosted on Lemmy.world...

_spiffy,

I think it depends on the game and community migration from reddit.

Deep Rock Galactic and Hunt: Showdown both seem to be picking up steam on their own communities in the fediverse.

_spiffy,

Blocking communities easily should be a priority for devs.

_spiffy,

This is unfortunate. But not surprising. Hopefully they still contribute to many other open source projects

Lemmy language options are both confusing, and don't do what they're intended to do (lemmy.world)

Granted, the warning says clearly "If you deselect Undetermined, you will not see most content", which places the onus on the individual user, as apposed to logic built into Lemmy on which posts/comments can be viewed, while also leaving it to each user to have to weed out alternate languages for their views which are...

_spiffy,

I feel like it should filter out posts that are not your language. So in theory you could have multiple languages in a single community and each user will only see their own languages selected

_spiffy,

Both myself and my wife really enjoyed it. I have played D&D for a long time and my wife had never had any interest in it.

_spiffy,

I swear I've had this happen a few times as wellm it might be an issue with the page refreshing but not updating on your end. But I could be wrong.

_spiffy,

At this point it doesn't seem like it. But you could submit a feature requests here: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy

EAC Seems broken on Arch?

I recently installed BattleBit Remastered on Steam (uses EAC). Upon trying to run the game, I only get as far as a screen telling me to ensure EAC is installed. I tried their "repair EAC" option in steam, and there was no change (a terminal opens, blinks, and closes again). I tried a system update to see if that would help, but...

_spiffy,

I haven't yet. But I did notice if I use obs VK capute it will crash sometimes with the game overlay, but only on launch and very rarely,
