What's the latest status on ID Austria? I keep seeing that it doesn't work most of the time. I'm still on Handysignatur and that works perfectly fine. Some services push me into "upgrading". Should I delay switching to it as long as possible?

It's a long shot but is anyone still looking for a ticket for Reboot Develop Blue?

@Splyth Hmmm, in theory, yes. This would prevent me from creating a huge "Nice To Have" list. But that would just move the decision whether to cut it or add it to an earlier point. Still need someone to slap me in the face whenever I add too much to the scope.

Game engines are the worst with audio APIs. Things you must have.

  • Schedule on DSP time
  • An argument for the behavior if the DSP time was missed. A: Begin the sound too late, or B: Skip the beginning so that it'll line up with the scheduled time
  • A dispatch pattern - dispatch multiple calls to the DSP thread in the same thread lock. If used, anything that misses the scheduled time will miss it together by the same amount.
  • Must apply to ANY calls. Play, stop, change volume, pitch, etc.

@Nifflas @byobattleship I feel like a big part of it is that the big games use Fmod or Wwise. Since those exist, I guess engines feel no pressure to compete and improve. I meant to look into FMOD free tier some time ago, because I feel if I want to do anything mildly complicated I either gotta write the low-level tools myself (I lack the audio knowledge) or use one of those libraries.

    Okay, so default mastodon web interface plays a sound every time you get a notification, but when you switch to the tab it doesn't even show you that you got a notification...
