I just binged watched Severance (finally), and liked it, but it made me come to the sad conclusion that I mostly find Christopher Walken is more distracting than interesting in recent performances. I also thought he was the weakest casting in the new Dune movies.
Which is not a feeling I like, because I love Christopher Walken. Too much pop culture baggage with his voice? Don't know.
I'm helping my high schooler apply for a job at the local ice cream shop, and their online application provides a sample resume which really is a shining example of how to meet your audience where they are.
The thing a lot of people miss about old blues is, it’s not all who done you wrong. Sometimes it’s magical one minute spelling lessons about trying to catch dinner. https://youtu.be/AnMaJm8ieYg?si=2pmFlUnzadEfVL2T
@agiletortoise We’ll have a senior and a sophomore, and I’m already a bit of a mess. All the arguments and hard stuff aren’t enough to make me want to give up telling them I love them before bed every night.
@agiletortoise HAL. An AI voice needs to be HAL. I tried to get #Google to hire Douglas Rain for the time needed to record the necessary material, but I couldn't convince them. I got the feeling they didn't want an optional Google Assistant voice that was known for killing astronauts on deep space missions. No imagination.
I looked at a list of movies coming out this Summer to figure out what was going to get me to the theater, and as far as I could tell it was all sequels. I’m sure some of them will be good, but where’s the new stuff?
@agiletortoise Hollywood is in the midst of a major existential crisis. The pandemic and the rise of on-demand streaming at home have created an environment where film makers are terrified to do much where they can’t count on a specific ROI. Accurate or not, they see established, loved properties to be a safer bet in that regard than original, untested ideas and stories.
@damonism@agiletortoise I've loved the web since the 90s (the good things about it) and I'm also so old I remember a time before it. It's wild my 17yo son has always known it. And he's always known it to be as crappy as it is now 🙄😂
So, if Apple outsources AI to Open AI, or Google, or whatever, do they sidestep having to count that energy consumption in their Apple 2030 initiative reports?
