I’m not here to defend all things Kagi, but those emails from the CEO seem…completely reasonable in my eyes. Vlad sounds pleasant enough and the mastodon post with the emails (sharing private correspondence without consent FWIW) misrepresents what was in those emails (he declined a call in the first email, not any further emails).

Again, I don’t pay for Kagi or think they’re perfect, but it feels like we’ve gone from zero to “Kagi is basically evil” in no time flat. https://mstdn.social/@osnews/112258784828818823

@sinky @matt same. I'm back on Kagi. This is an unreasonable response to an unreasonable post but it may as well be titled "do not use the internet"...

I'm as careful as I can be about the suppliers I use (in all forms and purposes). But there is a tendency to 'go after' smaller providers (because they actually bother to respond) who try to do the right thing with limited resources, while ignoring Apple, Google, Microsoft & Amazon etc. It's punching low (IMO).

@matt latest update adds a few more of the stock search engines - DDG, Bing, Ecosia. No Kagi.
But I agree with your take - dubious.
I also like synced tabs across devices ... maybe I'm an outlier.

@maique it's a compelling 1.0, I'm tempted to go all in on HEY but I'm struggling with the interface - it's a minimalists nightmare and email threading is terrible.

I noticed on your App Defaults list that you're Fastmail → HEY for Mail? How do you find it?
