How did Lemmy World become the default instance?

World was already the biggest by far when I first started lurking back in July, and it’s just getting more dominant. Before, there was quite some diversity in the distribution of generic communities, but nowadays the vast majority of posts that reach the top are from over there....

I thought it was because lemmy.ml closed registrations?

My original account is on lemmy.ml, but then I made this one on hexbear.net which now I use as my main, and I remember lemmy.ml was open long enough so I was able to create mine right before majority left reddit and then they were closed as it really spiked. I’m not sure if lemmy.ml registrations are open again but when most people were seeking to join Lemmy and lemmy.ml was closed then it seemed like lemmy.world was the default by default.

Pretty much what the title says. I noticed that ProtonVPN Linux has an EXTREMELY limited interface compared to their program on Windows. I also do not appear to have the option to bind qBittorrent to ProtonVPN the same way that I did with MullvadVPN. Has anybody experienced ProtonVPN on Linux and successfully used it for...

Honestly, fuck that. It has nothing to do with privilege or nihilism.

I am a prime target of fascism and Nazism, I’m far from a nihilist but I still laugh. Dark comedy exists as a coping mechanism for a reason and the West has done it to itself. It’s not entirely comedic, I am horrified of certain developments that can happen, but I’ll laugh along the way.

It’s the most amount of shoplifting I’m willing to risk these days, but if I’m doing the self-checkout and I didn’t bring my tote bag then I just take some plastic bags without paying for them.

They are worth so little that no one will bother stopping you over them and the amount of money in bags you’d need to rack up for them to care is just absurd.

Take the bags if you need them, but use your tote bag if you have one.

I once saw a White girl at the grocery store with a shirt that said “Racism is the Pits” with the face of a pitbull. I had to look it up and, yup, sure enough she was wearing a shirt that raised awareness of pitbull discrimination by drawing an analogy to what people of color face through racism. Just chalked it up to a well-meaning, racist lib trying to posture as anti-racist animal lover.

I guess this person is the opposite of that.

Not sure which is worse.

Might be a different issue but it only happens with this account.
