@ nancybaym@aoir.social @bkeegan, that's true! Also, even the outrage is ephemeral. Every week, there's a new story, and people move on quickly to the next one.
In a world with many “smart” devices, we need better tools to let us be in control of them.
@raynez and team built one such tool that enables, say, parents, to create ✨immersive stories ✨ that leverage smart speakers, lights, thermostats, fans, and other digitally connected devices, in addition to traditional pixels on a screen.
Check out Lei's presentation on the future of storytelling and #augmentedreality at #chi2024 today at 2pm in room 306 (in 30 min!)
@raynez worked on this project with undergrad intern @daekun and our team at Snap. They both will join @hci in the Fall, one as postdoc and the other as PhD student!

The German word for the phenomenon where information acquired from an LLM appears accurate and sensible yet prompts a subtle suspicion or doubt regarding its veracity, often due to hallucinations.

Protests during Trump's inauguration turned violent, so DC declared martial law to “prevent another Jan 6.” Natl Guard sent to close universities to install “law and order” after months of protests.
@marielgm I’m not sure about that one. If TikTok is forced to sell and they sell to an American company, which seems likely to happen, this would be an even stronger competition to Meta
I was just texting with a friend in Tel Aviv as I take my dog on walk in a beautiful sunny day in central NJ. My friend just mentioned that they’re waiting for some Iranian missiles to land in a few minutes. So surreal how well connected the world is yet…
