Is the flag itself the appeal to heaven? Does some deity only intervene when you fly its flag?

Is it to encourage others to appeal to heaven? Does that deity only intervene when enough people appeal?

If it is to make clear that some line of thinking has a lot of support -- what is that line of thinking? I'd say Christianity has enough symbols you could use, you don't have to invent your own.

Unless, of course, this has nothing to do with any of that.
