anton2492,

I discovered them through “Savin’ Me” and I unironically love that song (and its music video) to bits. Even if some of the lyrics are a bit flimsy and dramatic, the song overall is so emotionally powerful. Same goes for “Hero” (packaged with the first Spidey movie). Strip away some of the ear candy in the Kroeger production and they both still hold up as beautiful songs.

anton2492,

Tacking on my unsolicited two cents - I gave Origins a very, very fair go (added an easy 30 hours to my playtime and even completed some challenge paths for my sense of accomplishment), and while it does try to emulate the success of its prequels, ultimately it falls short of its predecessor.

Arkham City is a perfect balance of all the elements introduced during the series; it doesn’t feel incomplete (although Asylum works great as an entry point) yet it’s not an overbloated mess like Knight. Its story also feels more emotionally involved and the plethora of characters is incorporated well.

Please don’t downvote this [too much] but…

I’m not seeing ExpressVPN get mentioned here or elsewhere anymore except for the odd YouTube ad (perhaps this is already a tell-tale sign).

Their website states that they run it off RAM and they don’t keep logs.

Is there something wrong with it / did something happen to it that I’m not aware of? (I’ve been a customer of theirs for some time now)

My aim with using VPN is to maintain data privacy across my Windows, iOS and Android devices, and be able to access geofenced media (e.g. a different country’s Netflix library), with minimal to no access issues during browsing or streaming. What’s the go-to these days?

A personal argument for a benefit of gaming

I grew up hearing all the talking heads (media), religious groups and parents strongly criticizing video games. You’ve, probably, heard some of this. For example, video games involving any type of violence causing people to become more violent, etc. As far as I know, the academic community has failed to produce any negative...

anton2492,

Lmao! We definitely need AI JFK to read this now

What's a band that has one album that is just about perfect in your opinion, but rest of their discography misses the mark with you?

One of mine is Commit This to Memory by Motion City Soundtrack. I basically took the title verbatim and know the album word for word. And while I would love if it did, the rest of MCS’s stuff just doesn’t hit the same way....

anton2492,

Until very recently, I thought that the whole track was an original production. Turns out Gotye is something of a sampling genius - mad respect for the craft in STIUtK, and what a killer set of melodies on top of everything else.

anton2492,

I’ve been realising more and more that I need music, or certain types of music to push through something I need to do. Working in silence (with undiagnosed ADHD/whatever’s happening up there) leaves too much room for boredom, so I suppose the music acts as a stimulus to keep going.

When I have to do something as menial as chores or housework, I put on headphones and crank a mix of tracks from the Tekken games. Nothing like blasting Tag 1’s rousing, electro-rock-D&B intro to start washing the fat stack of dishes from last week. 😁

anton2492,

Upgrade was fantastic! So glad I caught that under the radar. Such a great action sci-fi with a dystopian flavour. “Black Mirror” meets “John Wick”. And what an ending.

anton2492, (edited )

I’ve got one that’s a gem and hasn’t been mentioned yet, for once!

Upgrade (2018)

A guy and his wife are attacked, his wife is murdered and he just barely survives. With the help of a super-chip implanted into his body by a billionaire, he sets out to get revenge. But at what cost?

A stylish, savage techno-action film, basically John Wick but with AI chip. The ending is rightly haunting. Well worth watching!

Without spoiling too much, the ending is not entirely traumatising in my view, but it personally left me rather depressed, with an acute feeling of loss and hopelessness. Though wouldn’t say that any standard trigger/content warnings apply to the ending (the rest of the movie does get rather bloody though)

anton2492,

Hope you enjoy it! Here’s one of the spoiler-free content guides I found for it just to give an idea. Violence, blood and gore are at the top of the list, as expected ;)

anton2492,

This is me right now with RDR2, almost feverish with it for the last two weeks.

Currently on my second full playthrough. This time I’m changing it up by playing with a controller, and doing a low honour run - role-playing as the disillusioned dickhead that hates the world, antagonises almost everyone and gets bounties left and right. I have been avoiding story missions for the last 5-10 hours just because the world is so engrossing, so rich with experiences and possibilities that the thought of returning to the story starts to feel restrictive. But I’ve added a good 20+ mods to enhance the experience in a lore-friendly way, too.

But man is it fun. God, what a pleasure it is to experience that world, and to know just how much of it I still have left to discover. I love it so much.

anton2492,

I have a vivid memory of my first time watching it (at about 8 years old, on good ol’ VHS), and running away to peek from behind the door during >!Murphy’s execution!<. It’s still fucked up every time it comes on. Horrific

anton2492,

I might just try that someday. The idea is intimidating but sounds like a new level of fun. Have to try to emulate it on PC though

anton2492,

About 40% through Hogwarts Legacy at the moment. It’s been great so far, very impressive especially coming from the old HP games on PC. Fixed up some performance issues with the Ascendio mod, and all works fairly well on my (ancient, circa 2014) rig.

anton2492,

Seconding the other response. This page should have everything you need to get the game into an optimal, playable state. Like a breath of fresh air when I launched it again. Brilliant work by those involved in the fixes.

anton2492,

More ‘browses’ = more engagement metrics = more $?

Definitely Grim Fandango. First game to make me laugh out loud, personally it’s clever and witty, and I love it to bits.
