So here's the fun thing about the PVM (PWK Virtual Machine) used by Wheel of Fortune (2010, Wii) and a bunch of other spigot games:
It's a stack-based VM (a stack machine), but it's not a simple one. It's a typed stack, as it's built of an array PVariable* which is a base class with a bunch of subclasses. So you get polymorphism with your stack.

So I’ve been using for my lately and I have been loving it. But I need to find myself some more news sources to subscribe to. Only following @verge and the blogs for the programming languages I use.

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

@brodokk @hack13 I do it manually from the export page in the subscription management until I can be bothered to setup some automation :3

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

@hack13 I do exports of my FreshRSS feeds to https://gabrielsimmer.com/feeds.xml every so often. Might give some ideas :3

Oof, LetsEncrypt is down 3:

A small amount of floofy.tech downtime over the next few hours as we shuffle some resources around :3

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

Little more downtime than expected as we... accidentally nuked one of our cluster control nodes. We seem to be recovering and catching up now though.

Ironically, we were working on the solution that would prevent this lol

Well, the statsd exporter for Prometheus was really easy to setup, so now we have Mastodon metrics for Floofy.tech that we can turn into some fancy dashboards when we have Grafana setup.

Maybe an incentive for donators? Ability to see metrics in Grafana when it's set up?

@hack13 I can stop whenever I want I swear

floofy.tech has returned to normal operation. Apologies for the minor downtime and backlogs, but we're all caught up now.

I thin one of the hardest things for new users to the fediverse has been learning not only about federated services, but also that there are multiple of the same service which are slightly different and run by different people.

@crumbcake “Oh and over here we have Lemmy and kbin, which are like Reddit but they can also talk to the other platforms.”

Me: They just don't make things like they used to. The headphone jack on my phone stopped working after only a year or so of use. My walkman from the 90s still works just fine!

shakes fist at cloud

Me, later: Wow that's a lot of lint I just excavated from this headphone jack!

... turns out, I didn't keep my walkman in my pocket all the time.

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

@HerraBRE We need to bring back and normalise hip clips for phones and other devices

I learned this week that Pantheon, a SaaS hosting platform, has kept hosting infamous anti-LGBTQ+ hate groups like Alliance Defending Freedom and others, despite immense community backlash.

They sponsor DrupalCon, and at this month's conference, they quadrupled down on their decision to keep hosting the hate group, citing their belief in an "open web".

It's heinous, imo, to use open-source language as an excuse to continue platforming hate. https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2023/04/webops-platform-pantheon-defends-hosting-hate-groups-as-developers-quit/

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

@silvereagle Why do these providers insist on dying on this hill. It's not a slippery slope when you ban very clearly hateful people from your private platform.

I mean ultimately I know the answer is money but still.

And we're back! Hello again fedi!

arch, to random
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

I have learned my lesson. No longer will I underestimate the amount of memory DaemonSets in Kubernetes will take up. Always prioritise memory over CPU I guess.

Working with @kakious to swap to fewer nodes with 8GB of memory (48GB versus 54GB).

Which weirdly reduces our memory usage. Because. Yeah.

arch,
@arch@floofy.tech avatar

After much wrestling, the nodes have been beefed up :3 4*8GB and one 4GB node we don’t need to take out of the cluster at the moment. And no downtime!

We’ve also learned that Longhorn doesn’t seem to degrade very gracefully when trying to take nodes offline
