I'm no database expert, but I wonder if it would be wise to break those up into multiple queries instead of joins. Joining post with person and community would result in a ton of duplicate data, wouldn't it?
I'm actually interested in what people have to say about this, because I have a project that's kind of sensitive to database query performance, and I'm worried that I'll find out about some performance bottleneck the hard way like Beehaw just did. The more I learn about the subject, before my project goes to production, the better!
Beehaw uses the same software, which rubs some people the wrong way.
That said, it seems better to use open-source software developed by someone with unpleasant political leanings than to use a proprietary platform operated by someone with unpleasant political leanings who actually bans people based on them.
Seems like foldable phones are taking over (e.g. Motorola Razr making waves) and only Apple is missing an entry in this form factor now. Almost everyone who can afford one swears by it with the exception of weak build quality....
it's very much borrowed from one of the reddit subs i frequent(ed) often, but the idea is to share what we're playing weekly and hopefully create discussions around those games (or simply have a sort of "check-in").
Been playing a moderately modded MechWarrior 5. The game just isn't as fun without the Clans and their cool technology, so I added the “Yet Another Clan Mech” mod which adds them, but now the game gets crashy whenever any Clan 'Mechs show up. Dunno why. Hoping for another MechWarrior game some time soon.
I pretty much completely agree with you, but I'd like to add “the use of technology to solve problems”. A fair amount of leftists seem to think we should stop driving cars and eating meat, and of course their environmental, ethical, and safety concerns are valid. But we are humanity, the highest-tech species ever to walk this Earth. Surely we can find a better solution to these problems than just giving up and going back to the bad old days.
I can fucking relax a little bit
Over the past 48 hours I have been glued to my screen trying to figure out how to make Beehaw more robust during this Reddit exodus....

Beehaw's user count tripled this week (the-federation.info)
The overall Lemmy stats haven't changed as dramatically, but there has been an uptick in active users.
What do you think of foldable phones?

how would you describe yourself politically, Beehaw, and why?
we previously had this thread but it was lost in a sitewide crash. kind of fortuitous, given all the new people!...
