Banner credit goes to... me, actually. It's from a project that I never actually posted anywhere, back in 2022. I should talk about it, some day.

Just rewatched Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse. It's still the masterpiece I remember it being. It's by far the best animated movie I've ever seen, one of my favorite movies of all time and the score is also absolutely amazing.

And it's also a movie that will forever be important to me. Because when I came out of the theater when I first saw it, something just felt different. I couldn't put it into words at the time, but looking back, I keep coming back to this moment as a pivotal moment in what was about to happen in my life.

I felt something different, something huge that took all space in my mind without ever telling it's name... I kept thinking about that movie for weeks and I kept thinking about this thing that I was feeling, without being able to properly understand what it was, this painful but oh so joyful gut feeling I've been having since that day.

It gave a big jolt of energy to something within me, something that's was slowly waking up for a few years now but that was definitely awake now, something that I willingly tried to put down all of my life...

...anyway. 10/10, this movie helped me accept that I was trans.
(something that I knew for sure since I was around 11 but hey, denial is one hell of a drug.)

I gotta say, rewatching this movie with the idea that it can be seen as being a trans allegory sure hits a lot different. For me, it's perfect. Whether this movie is actually about this or not doesn't change of thing the fact of the matter is : I heard it. And that's the beauty of art, isn't it?

In the end, Across The Spider-Verse is about being who you are, no matter what, because it isn't something you can control. You have no other choice then to be who you are. You can be a superhero, just like you can be a trans girl. The fact is : This is what you are, you don't shape it, it shapes you.

Being who they are is putting on a mask. And being me meant dropping mine.

This truth about being me would've come out one way or another, it was already way on it's way, but this movie gave it a massive kick it. And because of that, it will forever be one of my all time favorites.

Just curious, what would a modern GTK 4 app, made for @gnome, would look like on @elementary? Would it look like a GNOME app, or would there be some sort of theming?

What's going on with ?

Everyone is talking about it, like there is a massive exodus, so I looked it up and... I didn't find anything. :c

So, I finally got my Framework Laptop. A day early, too! Beautiful machine, I must say. I put the RAM and SSD in, followed the instructions and I made my choice of operating system.

I hesitated a lot between @fedora and Elementary, but in the end, I went with Fedora because it was recommended and I love @gnome. When @elementary 8 releases, I'll make sure to check it out, though.

Battery life has been surprisingly good! I've done a lot of things on it today, lots of downloading, opening and closing stuff, with constant downloading and music streaming in the background. I've been losing around 10% per hour.

Honestly, it's all good hardware side. I'm still not a fan of the keyboard which could be a deal breaker as this is the one thing that I'm stupidly picky with, but I think I just need to get used to it.

My issues are more with the software and on that, there isn't much the @frameworkcomputer team can do.

First off, the animations in GNOME just aren't smooth and I can't seem to figure out why, I'm never getting that buttery smooth 60 fps scrolling, for exemple. But I can deal with this.

No, my two big gripes for now, are : Scrolling speed. I've looked it up and I found people complaining about of a simple "scroll speed" adjuster in GNOME for years. It's a massive issue right now, scrolling is just ridiculously sensitive and because I'm not a very technical person, I haven't been able to figure out how to fix it. :(

Another thing is... what's up with apps? I use three. Notesnook, Cider 2 for Apple Music and . All three look blurry.

Notesnook takes it one step further by being especially weird at this. I used two versions of the app. The Flatpak. And the Appimage. Both have their own annoyances. The flatpak is crisp af, I love it, BUT... it's header is light theme only, not following the theme of GNOME and the mouse cursor gets either huge or tiny when using it. The Appimage though, follows the theme correctly, has normal size cursor... but is a blurry mess.

@notesnook Is this something you can fix? Or is this just out of your control?

It's my understanding that Electron apps and Wayland are not into each other? I hope they accept one another soon and kiss, because this is really bothering me. And I hate that I don't know how to contribute to this, so I'm sitting here. Complaining. While not contributing anything. Like an asshole. :(

But other than that, well. it's working really well so far.

A "social media/platform/thing-y" I actually like spending time on, how about that, huh? That's a new one for me. :Blobhaj_Ani_Hophop:

Uhm. Hi, beautiful people of blahaj.zone!

I just moved here. I was originally on mastodon.social, being bored, not posting often and waiting for an e-mail from Mozilla to finally give me an invite to Mozilla.social, which I've been waiting on forever. But with the new CEO and the restructuring, it seems like that's dead in the water so... I decided to move here.

Hope that's ok. :Blobhaj_Shock:
