Business Update: Apparently 50% of this months Patreon transactions didn't complete.

If you're one of our lovely Patrons, I believe you would get an error on your account, so please check on your side of the fence...

I'm speaking with them, but it seems that they've really $%& up royal.. so I might need to figure out another way to get support for this place that's stable. :bill:

(We're running pretty lean, but I'm starting to look into cost saving measures anyway)

There is something called https://opencollective.com/ which apparently has a lot more transparency which I like.

Normally there are only 3-4 failed transactions, but 50% of them is weird and scary. :oofface:

@stefan sorry. a little catch up. Somebody noticed that the alttexthealth graphs sometimes include my instance and sometimes don't....

I've noticed mastodon.au and mastodon.nz are sometimes on the list and sometimes not as well...

A.S has had a bug that has stopped uploading large files such as videos to my media store.

This bug has been resolved and you should be able to upload video now without weird errors and hangs. :psyduck:

:farnsworth: GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY: According to @AltTextHealthCheck our wonderful Mastodon instance is one of the most actively "ALT TEXT" posting instances in the fediverse (14th on this list).... with more than 60% of our media containing alt text as far as this shows.

This is lovely to see, and congratulations to mastodon.nz for smashing it!

  1. I've updated the webpage with a new "Theme" called elephant (birdsite-like UI)... this theme is by @rolle and I like what they've done with the design. :blobcatboopowopat:

  2. The server seems to be a little "slower" than I'd like after the timeline was rebuilt -- no idea if it's related (but it might be). I'll try to resolve this asap! :psyduck:

  • Fix timeout handling of outbound HTTP requests (CVE-2023-36461)

Luckily, due to our "Please no hacky" rule in our terms of service.. we were not susceptible to these vulnerabilities :blobcatboopowopat:

NUGGET ALERT: Good afternoon, the server is now running on dedicated hardware hosted in a datacenter instead of the cloud.

The webapp and mobile apps should be a lot snappier because the servers specs (CPU/Memory/Storage) are all at least double the previous server.

Thanks for your supports and donations to the @PostersUnionAU (My Patreon) for making this possible...

(There was a slight bug with images on a few servers but that should be fixed soon)
