I "need" a new iPad this year and I'm seriously considering an Android tablet instead. 99% of my tablet usage is watching things so there's no reason I need the extra cost of an iPad for that. The convenience of Notes etc on it is occasionally useful, but I could live without it.
My car has, essentially, an Android tablet in it and it's really good. It's got me thinking maybe that could work.
@bazscott may as well give it a go just be sure you can return it if you hate it. There is not much keeping me using an iPad - watching shows, reading Mastodon. Which Android can probably do.
(Most annoying thing recently is that my iPad Pro with its Apple keyboard case now shows me the “unsupported accessory” dialog twice, every time I open the cover.)
I am genuinely shocked at the lengths countries and their media will go to to shut down debate on the ongoing Israeli genocide of the Palestinians.
Germany - of all countries - should know what happens when only one side of a debate is allowed to be heard, for example.
The greatest trick Israel has pulled is to muddy the waters such that they can claim any criticism of their actions is anti-semitic. It's not the same thing, as can be seen by the very many jews who criticise Israel.
I got a loan car from the dealer as my brand new car is in for a small fix (windscreen washers not working). Which is fine, except it has a huge BYD on the side 😂 Hopefully only for a day or two and I don't need to drive around like this over the Easter long weekend.
This. This is so spot on. I could rant for days about the damage Thatcher & Reagan did to the world. People think Obama and the orange guy were consequential presidents - they weren't. They didn't really do anything much. We're still living in a Reagan/Thatcher world!
As I've been looking at new cars recently, I've been really impressed with some of the designs. Car companies are finally doing some nice stuff! (After decades of stagnation) All in the EV space of course, some with a great retrofuturistic vibe.
Look at the Rivian R3, it's just wonderful! I could not love this more.
