Can be made to work with as well as ? Then podcatchers could work like a client, allowing us to interact directly via comments, favorites and spreading around the best episodes via boosts.

update: it exists but no podcatcher fully supports it yet.

@wjmaggos I know that @samsethi, @theDanielJLewis and others are working on cross-app comments. A couple of apps already include this in some fashion. I think there are still a some bugs to work out.

I think listening would still be in an app, comments could be in-app, but potentially pushed to a federated location like Mastodon.

We have now exceeded the limits of my expertise. :-)

@wjmaggos @samsethi @theDanielJLewis I see possibilities here, if only having the episode player embedded into a post. Other than Castopos, I don’t know of any hosting companies/solutions currently building a “the social share is also the show notes and the conversation home,” which is essentially show notes = mastodon post. But maybe another will do this, or maybe there’s a hybrid option…

@wjmaggos @samsethi @theDanielJLewis As far as going “viral,” probably not just the algorithm-driven way we see on TikTok, YT, etc. But in the much more meaningful sense of actual value and dialog, definitely.

Maybe a different kind if content boost. But much more meaningful long-term.

@samsethi It looks like TrueFans should be up and running with cross-app comments/social interact. I've been looking at No Agenda because I hear that they get a lot of comments and I can't, for the life of me, find the comments (or even a link to the root post) in TrueFans.

I must be super dense.. Can you help a brother out and tell me where I should go to see what this looks like in TrueFans?

@samsethi Ok. Thanks. I could have sworn I saw the social interact tag in the NA feed and I thought @adam had mentioned it in a thread somewhere.

Regardless, I’ll hold my horses :-)

The phrase “watch this ” broke my brain.

@paninid I was actually checking out video podcasts yesterday when I learned that Podcast Guru supports video podcasts. Like, actual video podcasts, delivered as an RSS feed enclosure.

@paninid I know there are other apps that do this, too. Apple has supported them for years. But most of that fell out of favor as YouTube became the dominant player in the video scene, but kept the experience limited to their ecosystem or website embeds.

Thanks @podcastguru for building support for video into Podcast Guru. I may not use it much, but it's nice to know it's there.
