I think it was during the ShopTalk with Blake Watson where "tower defense" games briefly came up and someone recommended Kingdom Rush. It's not exactly new, coming out in 2011, but it was new to me. I played on iOS. It feels like the total classic of tower defense games. Monsters come at you, you build towers to stop them. There are different types of towers, and your success comes from the right combinations, upgrades, and placement.
It’s funny? remarkable? strange? at how much design and strategy work I’ve done in the past 8 or so years that I can’t show publicly because of the confidential or early-stage nature of my work now.
Granted there was a lot of work when Weightshift was a practicing studio that we couldn’t show either, but it’s something I’ve observed.
There seems to be more gained knowledge to share somehow but I’m weighing how I might do that.
@nazhamid I struggle with this too. Grateful to have been busy with good problems when the work’s been there, but/and it feels deeply weird that there’s so little I can point to publicly.
i use the !g operator in duckduckgo to flip over to google in cases where i’m frustrated at duckduckgo’s slightly worse search accuracy. it used to yield better results, but now? almost always the same or worse
