Monero all-time high is $542.33 and that’s not a cap, so I don’t agree with the 135-170 channel theory. XMR has only been stable in this so-called crab market, moving sideways but I don’t see malfeasance in that.
Value for crypto assets / currencies is pretty arbritrary, yes it’s drawn out of PoW - equipment, knowledge + energy costs. But the value proposition opens it up to an open ended price in, say dollar$. Particularly with Monero there is much less observable network data so we can only go on the gestalt.
I would say that Monero is an unlikely candidate for manipulation as there are so many dark exchanges and non-public transactions, that anybody with the tools and wherewithall to manipulate a crypto-market would earn much more in doggy coins.
I’d say the price of Monero is closely pegged to the price of BTC, though there is a slight trend of Monero gain on this it still correlates hard. And BTC still roughly correlates with the stock market, at least since the noob wave of 2021+.
Post script, I have a feeling, but no evidence, that Monero is used more widely as a true currency than any other crypto - that is sidelining lightning network which is something different, more like a settlement layer. As I mentioned the price is open-ended but Monero stands to gain from the trends of state oppression, digitised currency and surveillance. Anarcho-cypher-punks unite!
Here’s a very brief overview of some of the Monero Wallets with a quick pro/con of each. Including the official wallet, Cake, MyMonero, and Feather. During browsing Github issues on Monero related projects, some mentions ‘the next hard fork’, is the hard fork happens in a predefined intervals? Could you please explain in easy terms what’s Seraphis and what changes it will bring?
Seraphis is a big change, and I think it warrants discussion.
Firstly the timeframe:
“At the moment it’s quite difficult to estimate when everything will be ready for the hardfork to Seraphis and Jamtis. Some very early estimates see a possible hardfork about 2 years out, i.e. in the first half of 2025. Things may easily take a year longer.”
"Unfortunately, Monero addresses currently in use are not compatible with Seraphis. Users would need to generate new addresses from their wallet keys in order to receive Monero if Seraphis were implemented. "
Also see this discussion about Seraphis implementation.

Yeah interesting. I pretty much straight away blocked the @RSS profile and am not too bothered with the r*ddit content. Shame for the regular joe logging in they see a flood of un-engaged crossposting.

yes LLaMA got leaked and has opened up a tool for the people. I see the project openLLaMA making headway in putting out a chatbot ‘for the people’ as opposed to the centralised control. don’t confuse it with LLaMA 2, a confab between mta and mcrosoft which is ‘open source’ but you have to let them have all of your data. seems to be an effort at damage control and to try and still harvest some of the data that people are shovelling into machine learning programs these days. I personally don’t think they’re great at all, far from intelligent and I think they’re going to be bad for humanity down the line. but pandora’s box is open so we might as well democratise by at least breaking the corporate chokehold on A"I".
Any particular shows people here like watching? I've seen Renegades and a few others. I'm currently in the middle of Phase II. The special effects impress me for the budgets involved, and the writing/acting makes me appreciate the professionals more :^P I don't want to shit on any of them though. The effort is solid, and they're still an enjoyable watch.
Ripple is pretty much at the heart of surveillance-finance. They are a WEF affiliate, used in multiple CBDC rollouts (Montenegro, Singapore), partner with Mastercard and WeChatPay (Chinese everything app), the list goes on and on. And yet mainstream crypto is happy to shill for it.
It’s a shame that cypherpunk dream of crypto has been rolled over and is now supplicant to vampiric economic overlords.
Seconded. I like having < reddit sperging and a higher caliber of debate here, but would appreciate being able to view some of the content. Right now this place is shaping up good so don’t want it to go spamwards.
I read about the guy, crosslinking here: monero.town/post/2251I don’t think there’s evidence that his client list is with the feds, only speculation in the thread. Thread includes a good debate on opsec with localmonero etc. worth looking though.

He affirms accepting campaign donations in crypto (see his website EmordForVA.com) and will vigorously defend your right to practice self-custody of your cryptocurrency.
Noting that politicians in the US who “accept crypto donations” are using middleman services who convert crypto straight to dollars. Looked into this after RFK came out at Bicoin conference '23 accepting lightning donations. Due to campaign funding laws, all donations must be declared and, I assume to facilitate this, the campaigns use a 3rd party to accept crypto and receive US dollars. Whilst Emord looks anti-establishment and has a good track record - his crypto page only accepts: ETH, USDT, USDC, SHIB, DAI, APE and WBTC. So I assume his company of choice, Politicoinred only plays with Ethereum based shitcoins. And does not accept XMR.
Are you sure it’s Kraken? Sounds sketchy. What business would Kraken have with a bank statement? It sounds like scam behaviour - “do this within a week or you may lose your account”.
Could the price be so stable because of a gigantic whale?
Maybe the xmr price is stable because some whale(s) sell the right amount at the right time, balancing supply to the present demand....
