Ok maybe it's a tad bit early for New Year's Resolutions, but I'm looking for recommendations on a personal task manager. I started using Obsidian this year and it's been a game changer for documentation of all the things (personal, work and otherwise).

But not finding a groove for my todo lists there.

Todoist? Microsoft Tasks? Is Apple Notes good enough? Anything opensource? I can self-host, too.

@mjeaton Ah I just opened it. Since we are a MS365 company, this will be hard to beat for work related tasks for sure. I see it's diving into my emails and team chats to pull out possible tasks as well. CoPilot can't be far behind.

@blakeashleyjr That's a good read. I wasn't separating Projects from To Dos, or I would enter To Dos inside each Project, and then things got lost if I didn't check in often in each one (many projects!). This workflow is more structured. Might be worth trying this to keep me in one tool, at least for home and hobby stuff. Thanks!

Hmm…what’s this? It seems like you could create public curated lists that others can follow. The closest thing I’ve seen to custom feeds like BlueSky.

There’s no link to a code base and no external FAQ, so I’m hesitant to try it out since it requires login. I noticed an account that was boosting every post I had in a conversation with the Ice Cubes app developer. Kinda behaves like Lemmy groups as far as the boosts go.

@JustMeDevin Crouton was so helpful during the holiday season. I know it’s a simple thing, but not having the darn screen go dark and lock while working on a recipe is my favorite feature!

@underlap @hcj #Sharkey, a direct fork of Misskey 13, has added imports for numerous account types. I’ve personally tried the Twitter, Mastodon, Firefish, and Instagram imports and they worked - including the attached media if available. Imported notes aren’t federated and lose replies, favorites and boost counts.
