Setting aside the issue of whether this post is overstating the risk of MDM software on a personal phone, I had a tangentially related experience that might provide a tip for anyone who’s in a similar situation.
I like to have the convenience of checking my work messages and chats on my personal phone, so I have Teams and Outlook installed and using my work account.
When I first went to sign in to my work account on Outlook, I got this message like “Outlook needs to run with administrator privileges in order to provide the necessary security for this account” and shunted me off to some system settings to approve the permissions. Big nope.
So I tried Outlook Lite, and it made no such demands and works perfectly. So for anyone else who’s run into this, try Outlook Lite! I hope this helps somebody.
Just recently I was in a conversation with a number of UK mainlanders and we had a debate over what “tories” meant, apparently disproportionately ordinarily it refers to a political party and it’s not usual to use it as short for “territories” as I’ve used it (according to how the debate ended, it was half and half...
A little into about me. I’m in my mid-forties, I live in Ohio, USA, and am on Medicaid. I suspect I have either ADD or ADHD but I can’t get diagnostic testing covered by Medicaid. What can I do to get testing or treatment? There are lots of “in-network” providers, but every time I get the focus to try and make an...
You might not need official testing if your doctor is comfortable prescribing meds without it. talk to your doctor and see what they think. based on a discussion of your experience, they may be willing to prescribe you a minimum dose of an ADHD med to see if it helps. it’s not the most scientific way to confirm that you’ve technically got ADHD, but assuming you’re physically healthy, the worst case scenario would be that you have bad side effects, stop taking it, and you’ll have wasted some of your time.
as a front end web developer, I’ve found it useful to know what user agent is requesting a page in order to load conditional styling. For example, to compensate for Safari’s god-awful outlines support (pre-version 16).
Looking for those games that you may have heard about but never tried until you got a Deck. Or old games on systems you never had that you’re trying for the first time. Or new AAA games that just released in the last year or two that you picked up for the first time specifically to play on Steam Deck and have kept you glued to...

oh that’s interesting. I was under the impression that a GP wouldn’t prescribe simulant meds without sending me to a psychiatrist first. I’ll have to talk to my GP about it then. I haven’t discussed it with her since I came off atomoxetine.
I don’t mean to be an aggressive anti-capitalist (but I’m gonna), but the suggestion that the solution to “dopamine addiction” is to “throw yourself into your work” makes me extremely suspicious.
Hello fellow lemmings! I’m designing a customized deck of cards as a present for a friend of mine. When finished, I’d like to print it by myself, because online print services would cost way too much for a single deck of cards. I’d like the cards to be robust and durable, and to be easy to shuffle. Is there a particular...
there are some print-on-demand card and game manufacturers that might be less expensive than you think. I’m a hobbyist game designer and I’ve used thegamecrafter.comthegamecrafter.com as well as makeplayingcards.com to have custom cards printed, and it wasn’t particularly costly.
but if those services do charge more than you want to spend, the thing I recommend most strongly is that whatever stock you decide to print on, cut them with one of those sliding-blade paper cutters. don’t try to cut them with scissors. they’ll come out a lot more even.
my understanding is that BG3 is more similar to Larian’s earlier games, Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2 (which, full disclosure, I’m a big fan of). so if you want an inexpensive PC game that’s likely to have a similar feel, mechanically, those games have been around a long time and are still well worth playing (if you ask me).
that reminds me, I failed to mention that I played both Divinity games on console. they work perfectly well (even if inventory management is a bit of a bummer) on console
