From an artist's point of view, is there any difference between you buying a donated CD from a charity shop and downloading pirated music from a torrent site?

Neither gives the artists, songwriters, producers, publishers, or distributors any money.

Neither reports to a charts authority to show popularity.

Both have the same impact on secondary revenue like gig tickets & merchandise.

@Edent not CDs as such but I've found recently that I like going into Oxfam book shops for art and design books like the random discoverability that I wouldn't get online or even buying new from a physical book shop

Wondering what the world would look like if we implemented "Universal Basic Website".

Entitle everyone to their own domain, a few GB of space, the ability to run simple apps / blogs / etc.

What does the world look like if people aren't beholden to Flickr / Facebook / Google Photos to share their family albums?

@chiefgyk3d I'll be putting up more details but roughly it uses a Air Quality Sensor and Neopixels both controlled by a @Raspberry_Pi Pico to light the Neopixels dependant on the current air quality

Game idea: Daley Thompson's Decathlon.
Olympic Gold medallist has to manage a large out of town sport and leisure equipment establishment, dealing with stock levels, staff and overtime issues. Things get tense when a recall is issued for young children's paddling pool.

I wish there was Linux subsystem for Windows (LSW), just like there is Windows Subsystem for Linux WSL. Thinking of going back to using Linux day to day and that would be useful for occasionally running Windows programs I need.
