For those following along after the Causality Callide C episode, this was published today but behind a paywall: “Lawyers for Dr Brady said the forensic engineer had been willing to hand over his documents to the court, but had been restrained from doing so by the privilege claims.” https://www.couriermail.com.au/business/qld-business/stateowned-cs-energy-wants-the-federal-court-to-keep-callide-c-explosion-report-secret/news-story/68dcf1992fea3f7a3de1fa4f0cf30e95

As I said in the episode, I’m not convinced we’ll ever see that report made fully public. They’ll probably release a redacted version but god knows when.

Slow Vacation

As an experiment, I did a vacation recently where I went somewhere warm with bodies of water and did basically nothing but read books by those bodies of water the whole time. I know many people had figured out this kind of vacation long ago, but it was my first time, and I can report that it ruled. Try it if you haven’t.

@peroty It’s a really good point. Holidays/Vacations where you’re just unwinding are reenergising vs trips with an agenda of things to see and do, and you get home from those longing for time to unwind since you’re exhausted!

After a very long time, I upgraded so many armour sets in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom before I finally decided to defeat Gannon. So it’s over. Finally. I dragged that out for a loooooooong time.

@DanDud Hey Dan! Just cleaning up this instance and noticed you haven’t posted anything since Nov 2022. Are you still using the account?I think you’re active on Twitter under CtrlAltDud, and if you’re not using it let me know if I can archive it. Thank you!

@scottaw Hey Scott, Just doing a tidy up of Fediverse Cyou and the last post from your account there was Nov, 2022. Pretty sure you’re active on Social.lol these days so is it okay if I close out the old one? Let me know. Thanks.

@scottwillsey Yeah. Sorry about that. Mona confused me when it was just trying to be helpful.

@Ronnie Hi Ronnie, Just an FYI that I’m tidying up unused accounts and your old Fediverse CYOU account hasn’t been used (ever). Seeing as how you’re pretty active on App-Dot-Dot-NET-Dot hopefully it’s okay if I deactivate the unused one.

For those interested, I’ve now finsihed back-importing all TEN Posts to my Substack. The next step is to try Patreon posts. This will be interesting…

Open Question to ponder: Is Elon Musk the Miles Bron of the Tesla Glass Onion?

@chidgey@engineered.space avatar

Believe it or not…the entire TechDistortion Archive has now been added to SubStack and are in the correct order with all images added and thumbnails created. So ends Phase 1. More to come, but I need a break.

Almost done, now up to October 2020 and I’ve done more than enough today. Will finish TD import to Substack tomorrow.

Wow this is getting tiring. No easy way to automate it either. I’ve made it up to 2015 in the Substack import. On the plus side, I’m also taking the opportunity to correct minor glitches on TechDistortion directly as I have to look at each article one by one. So that’s a plus I suppose?

@chidgey@engineered.space avatar

43 posts in to the Substack import and ready for a break. Until I’m finished, the posts will be out of sequence…oh well.

I’ve had some requests from fans of my work to publish to Substack. As a first step in that direction I thought I’d start by importing my TechDistortion feed (324 articles). And I posted a new one about it: https://johnchidgey.substack.com/p/techdistortion-parallel-posting-in?r=2lm8y7

A man walks past a sad Bitcoin miner in the street and asks, “What happened today, are you okay?” The Bitcoin miner responded: “I’m sorry…it’s just now I’m half the miner I used to be…”

For those running a Raspiblitz at home and an LCD using the WaveShare 35a driver (that’s probably about 0 other people) be aware that v1.11 switched the base OS to Debian Bookworm and the display driver stack is completely different. Practical upshot: when running the Blitz the LCD is now black after boot up. Everything else works fine thoug, so there’s that.

So let me get this straight…due to Apple having a rather mysterious change of heart that is totally coincidental…the only thing available in the first alternative App Store in the EU is also available in the App Store everywhere else? 🤔

I was having a lovely morning and my Raspiblitz just froze, then refused to reboot. I did some mental math about how old the SD Card was and the number of write cycles and I’m like…hmmm…well I guess it’s time for a new SD Card. Currently rebuilding the node. 3 hours in and counting.

Thanks for the shoutout on the latest Pragmatic @chidgey 🙏

Happy to have you aboard and supporting the project!

Curious which were the one or two graphs that you mentioned Libsyn Pro had that you're currently missing?

You always have the ability to download your downloads as a spreadsheet (via the API or the "export" on the stats page) and run custom analysis - but I'm always on the lookout for new breakdowns that would be useful in general to implement for everyone

chidgey,
@chidgey@engineered.space avatar

@js To be clear, I don’t care about any of these really, but since you asked…referencing this: https://five.libsynsupport.com/hc/en-us/articles/4412877752859-Review-the-Statistics-That-Come-in-the-Advanced-Package theirs includes a world map drill-down (OP3 has a series of pre-defined tables), you can break down all categories/charts by specific episode as well as overall, their download trends can be configured by duration to see 2+ month out download spikes… those are the main ones. Personally I don’t care too much and it’s true you can Export the raw data.
