Yes! I’m returning to the States for a week or so in September. If you’d like to meet up I’m trying to gauge interest as to where and when. Details here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/arizona-2024-103650329

After a very long time, I upgraded so many armour sets in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom before I finally decided to defeat Gannon. So it’s over. Finally. I dragged that out for a loooooooong time.

@scottaw Hey Scott, Just doing a tidy up of Fediverse Cyou and the last post from your account there was Nov, 2022. Pretty sure you’re active on Social.lol these days so is it okay if I close out the old one? Let me know. Thanks.

We have a new manager at the company that wants to change the name of a document thinking that this alone will change other individuals’ behaviour.

I’ve podcasted several times with Scott over the past decade and thought I knew him…really enjoyed learning more about him on this interview with Martin Feld. 👍🏻☺️ https://social.lol/@martinfeld/112235761655675261

When I was in JB HiFi today, I tried a reMarkable 2 Paper Tablet. I have to admit it was pretty nice. The 2 week battery life would be amazing and it’s 5mm thick and weighs 400g. By comparison my 5th Gen iPad Air weighs 461g and is 6mm thick, but it displays colour and you can use it without a pen/stylus but it goes flat quickly. I get the distraction-free environment as an analogue for pen and paper but it’s an extravagance I think if you already have a tablet.

@js Wanted to randomly thank you again for creating the OP3 service. I’m adding the following to the TEN Homepage. Should be live later today. Just checking in but based on the list of Supporters the project is able to cover it’s expenses at this point?

Some of the people in the office have been keeping a record of weird things I’ve said out loud, so I discovered. Here’s some of them: "Shrug-a-doodle-doo" “Alarm rationalisation. Boy Howdy did we do that!” “Don't believe everything you think.” "BYO Attitude” “I don’t care about winning a pissing contest, I only care about being right.” I know I’m weird.

Up to three pages of notes now for the next Causality. Weather here is finally cooling down at night with Autumn now upon us. Thank goodness. It’s been a wet, hot, humid Summer this year.

On any given topic, the more informed and knowledgable you are, generally more considered you are in your response since you appreciate the nuances of the topic. Conversely the less informed you are, the more decisive and direct you tend to be.

Project Tapestry looks like an interesting concept. Craig hinted at this a year ago in the final Twitter-pocolypse but they’ve taken some time to flesh it out. Kickstarter is an interesting option but I suppose that worked for Project Phoenix so why not? Looks like it’s already got enough to be made. Nice :)

Wow. I’m reminded that posting things in the Ars Technica forum that’s factually correct and realistic will be met with many downvotes and disrespect. Won’t be doing that again, lest I upset the children.

For those interested, I will be covering the SeaWorld Helicopter incident only once the final formal report has been released. They’re currently saying that should be by the end of this year, so expect an episode on that late this year or early 2025.

What’s most disturbing about social media is the equal-weighting of personal air-time people give it relative to reputable news and other forms of discourse. The ease of making comments, sometimes horrible, unthought, random comments, or even positive, thoughtful comments, can explode and take off and you’re dragged into a personal assassination by those that disagree. It seems it’s often better to simply say nothing at all.

@ivory Wondering if there’s any update on compatibility with other ActivityPub servers like Pleroma or Misskey? They both follow the Mastodon API (for the most part). Thank you.

I started writing this episode many months ago and despite my multiple enquiries to get a more detailed report on specifically how the attack progressed, I came up empty. If I come across a formal report in future I’ll amend if necessary. https://engineered.space/notice/Ace0HOdO4IP7qRADJI

That was fun. A few days ago my Mac Studio drive ran out of space without warning. I set about updating my VMs, reclaiming free space, and ensuring Pleroma was also on the latest version. After three days of pushing this along in my spare time, I’m finished. Finally.

With increasing work surveillance on my devices I’ve taken another step away by implemented an Exchange / Google Calendar Mirror for my work calendar. It had become quite frustrating having to use a work-locked device to see a single/merged calendar.

30 year ago saying: “If life gives you Lemons, make Lemonade”
Saying updated: “If life gives you Lemons, search on Google for how to make Lemonade because no-one remembers how, then results show you also need Food & Beverage licence and a registered business before selling anything and don’t forget to submit your Tax Return when you’re done.”

I’ve tried hard to justify $155AUD for Nova, but I just can’t do it. It’s a LOT of money for a text editor with Git integration (my use case). I can see how others that use it for more advanced things could justify it, but I can’t. Going to give VS Code another shot now there’s an Apple Silicon version of it.

Finally able to get rid of some Intel64 apps by using the Sonoma WebPage Add to Dock feature. It’s Sherlocked Fluid.app but that’s okay with me. Works just as well.
