As a young fella just getting into #jazz in the late eighties my first impressions of David Sanborn were that he was corny and overly smooth, in an unhip bag I didn't dig with guys like Metheny and the Breckers. Then he blew my fucking mind with the Night Music show and I've respected him ever since. There was almost no really cool weird music on TV in 1988-90 except that show, and man, Night #Music was legit!!! Nick Cave, Bongwater, Pere Ubu, Miles Davis...
Loved S1 last night but S2 was pretty up and down. And overall last night just doesn’t have the firepower of N1

N2

N1
Ranking the visuals from the couch is akin to ranking restaurant dishes from Instagram photos. Still, seemed like they used the Sphere better last night than N1. Given that these are planned shows, N1 wasn’t a learning experience. So assume N3 will be better than N2 and N4 > N3.
Yes it's Bey Day but make room for the latest from smoked out Seattle hiphop project Shabazz Palaces on Sub Pop. SP is led by Ishmael Butler, fka Butterfly of Digable Planets. Every Shabazz album is a fully realized avant future funk Mood and this one seems great so far
@mrcompletely@chopaganda I guess I should say he's not good enough for me to want to see him in an arena, but to be fair I don't think any bluegrass musician is. That's to say I don't think certain types of music translate that well to arenas, at least for me anyway
