I wonder if there’s a way to learn how to type accurately/fast on an iPhone? I can’t say I’ve ever been that great, and I’m starting to think I can’t keep blaming the phone size.

This is a glitch, right? 😵‍💫

I don't really think is likely I lost 58 subscribers (distributed on 2 apps) in a day…

@cdf1982 Does it match up with a common renewal date? For example 1 year since the app was released?

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@cdf1982 Oh okay. Are you able to see the specific per-app number or just the total? Could it be that not all apps have been calculated yet?

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@cdf1982 oh okay. In that case, I hope it’s just an error and the numbers bounce back.

I’ve just cancelled my Twitter Blue subscription. It was a worthwhile experiment, but I can’t say it made my experience any better.

I need to stay off Twitter 😅
I’m literally arguing with people that I don’t know about things that I really don’t care that deeply about.

I just went on Twitter and I saw people talking about how you shouldn’t ever close apps, and it’s better to keep everything open.
This is something that my brain can’t (won’t?) ever accept.

One reason that pops in my head whenever I see those arguments is the design of the app switcher. If all apps are meant to be open at all times. Isn’t the app switcher a bit defunct? Why can you close an app so easily if it’s such a terrible thing to do?

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@matt this seems totally crazy to me

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

Interesting 🤔

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@matt that’s a good question, I’m not sure. I don’t use an Apple Watch nowadays. I assume I would close them? But that seems quite tedious on a watch.

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@hboon sort of, I understand why it’s apparently bad to kill an app, and also that it’s meant to provide no benefit to close them as the app is in a suspended state. And I must admit, closing apps is probably mostly a habit, but there are a few reasons why I do it. Including keeping the app switcher tidy, and also making sure things don’t run in the background.

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@matt that makes sense!
To be honest, I wouldn’t put it past myself to eventually end up feeling the same way!

Is it me, or does this description of a so-called luxury clothing brand seem a bit weird?

I saw a few Apple Watch Ultras in person for the first time during my recent travels. And I must say, it looks rather big on some people!
I’m still torn whether I want one myself though (Or any Apple Watch). Because I’m enjoying wearing a “real” watch.
If only Apple sold a miniature version tha was more of a bracelet tracker device.

Apple is pre-announcing some Accessibility features likely coming to iOS 17 later this year, and we have the details on @macstories.

Two features are especially a big deal:

  • Personal Voice will let users who are at risk of losing their voice create a synthetic version of it. All done with Neural Engine on-device.

  • Assistive Access is a brand new, simplified UI mode for iPhone and iPad that streamlines the entire UI.

New personal voice feature

@viticci I wonder if the Personal Voice feature (while an incredible feature in its own right) is an early part of a bigger AI story for Apple.

I dug into my RSS feed data a bit more, and I think I've worked out the most likely reason behind the ever increasing subscriber number.
The two main-culprits of the increase is NetNewsWire and Reeder. Which makes sense, as they are applications, not services. So most likely, as my feed is requested from one of these apps, it's likely that the IP address won't be the same as before, so the stats show it as a new user.

As you can see, Feedly, which is a service rather than a client-side application, seems to be reporting rather stable numbers.

Although it now means I don't really have an idea of how many people subscribe to my RSS feed. Because I don't know how over-reported the NNW and Reeder numbers are. 😅

chrishannah,

@cliophate Via the RSS reader section of FeedPress. https://feedpress.com

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@ljpuk To be honest, I don't think I'll continue with FeedPress once my free trial is over. At least for me, the data isn't accurate enough for me to start worrying about tracking.

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

@matt I'm starting to think RSS sub tracking must be the 8th wonder of the world.
None of this makes any sense to me. 😅

One more roll of film complete!
Once I’m back in the UK, I’ll have three films I need to send off to be developed!

chrishannah,
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

Now my only camera options with me are an expired Fujifilm disposable, and a Minolta Maxxim 3xi that has B&W film in it.

chrishannah, to random
@chrishannah@fosstodon.org avatar

I have 5 days left of my FeedPress free trial. Once that ends, it’s €78 for 6-months.
Not quite sure if this seemingly ever increasing graph is worth that much to me. 😅
(Especially as it’s surely not accurate)

@cdf1982 That's very strange. Are you using a sync service with News Explorer?
