Von der #FremantleHighway gab's am 11.8. eine dpa-Meldung über den aktuellen Stand, bei der berichtet wurde, dass die unteren Decks und die Autos dort weitgehend unbeschädigt seien.

Darunter auch die 500 Elektro-Autos. Wir erinnern uns: als die ganze Sache startete, war der Fokus sofort auf Elektro-Autos gefallen und sie waren vielerorts als Brand-Ursache genannt worden obwohl wir bis heute die Brand-Ursache nicht kennen. 1/n

Kollegen behaupten immer, #Zoom würde so viel einfacher funktionieren als #BBB. Ich habe das bisher nie groß in Frage gestellt, weil ich keine Erfahrung aus erster Hand mit Zoom habe.

Ich bin bei einem Kollegen im zugehörigen Chat zur Veranstaltung, wo gerade spontan eine Veranstaltung auf Zoom verlegt wurde. Der nötige vorausgehende Support bei Zoom ist wirklich nicht geringer, als der bei BBB. Es gab haufenweise Fragen. Viele kamen nicht direkt damit zurecht. Einige fragten nach dem Client...

@fedora If you want user feedback, just ask. Show people a "take this survey" link, for example.

Taking any kind of data in a covert manner is a slippery slope. Sure it's just aggregated stuff about installed packages. Who cares. It's just when that computer is turned on or off. Who cares. It's just which programs were running at which times. Who cares. It's just window titles and keystrokes. Who cares.

Don't start with the first, if you don't want to end up with the rest. #Fedora #Telemetry

I have this #3d scan, which is essentially a bunch of points in 3d space. They are (seemingly?) randomly connected as edges and faces, in a way that makes no sense to me (or #blender).

This is a .obj file that was generated by a Laser-Line 3d scanner ~15 years ago. The object file starts with a comment saying "TecMath GmbH".

Do any of you have hints for me on how I could turn that into a usable mesh? Just good enough so that I can see the actual surface.

• me following more people
• more people being here in general

I used twitter for almost 15 years, and most of the time, I really liked it. The Fediverse has fully taken that place.

With #Apple's announcement of the Vision Pro, I would suggest waiting for the verdict of two people:

• Norman from Tested: He has been covering AR/VR/MR and simple video playback googles over the years. He has a good overview over the market and the capabilities of the devices.

• Linus from LTT: As a PC gamer, android phone user and user of actual VR hardware at home, he should be relatively immune to the Reality Distortion Field that is surely taking shape right now.

After years in a Cardassian war, on Starfleet's flagship and on some remote space station in the back of beyond, Miles O'Brien needs therapy.

The series shows O'Brien talking to his therapist. He recounts the absolute horror that he has been part of over the years. No cutbacks, no vfx. Just a close-up of Colm Meaney, telling the stories. Every now and then we cut to an absolutely shocked therapist.
