Our friendly stray is on edge today

Comes in, has an explore, watches my children a bit, and then demands food and leaves.

But also after whats happened with the stuff thats currently with Police and the forensics team I am taking no prisoners now.

All mobile devices that come into this house go on a seperate VLAN and then go through two stages of DMZ, Wireshark and context logging. 4G booster aerial also goes into the same VLAN so all 4G and WiFi traffic is logged.

So any malware, Google Family Link, any tracking or any spyware or anyone attempting to track any device gets a knock on the door at speed after a ban

Was talking to two other parents from my eldest kid's school tonight about keeping kids safe online. Explained my eldest (now 34 years old) was the original guinea pig in 2000 when we started proper internet filtering with Smoothwall.

How my kids now don't stand a chance and everything is monitored, logged, scanned and reported on, tech built by Daddy.

When I was asked how much it cost, I said nothing, just get an old PC or tiny PC or PI and you can be up in an hour was met with stares....

cloudguy,

@mitgibs exactly

The humanity of it and the quality

I want her to have her own TV show

But I don't

If there was even one crew member it would ruin it

So until recently I drove an EV.

I got shot because 1) it was rubbish and I hated range anxiety and public charging is insanely expensive 2) it was boring as hell compared to ICE 3) to convert my 1950s NEW house wiring to fit a charger when I moved in the summer was £11k !! Just to move a £1k charger from one house to another.

I now save £7k a year not having it.

But look at these battery prices - 2nd hand - this is why EVs will fail.

Car worth £14k - battery £7k

INSANITY

When you take pain meds after sitting up working on code late at night and don't wake up till 10.15am.

Luckily I had no meetings and deliberately cancelled alarms which would have woken me up.

I lost 144lbs 2017-23 eating one small meal a day and no snacking

Since moving home in July am eating three meals a day and also drinking a lot of tea.

Used to only drink water.

Have put 20lbs back on

Cue diet at speed.

Am 51 on Sunday and my birthday present to me is being back at my target weight

I am proud to announce I turned down a Round A seed funding offer from an investor today for my new co, Voxiferi.

My reasons are simple

  1. If we accepted a partner and advisors by way of a cash investment it could mean we are seen as not being vocally or editorially independent

  2. I like exits. On my terms. I've sold three companies. On my terms.

  3. If I can't grow this on organic revenue without an injection of cash then there is something wrong.

Saying no to £2.7m makes you ponder.

Terminated my commercial relationship with Grafterr and Stripe as they are actually clueless about APIs and security.

If you're a small business stick to Square / SumUp.

It has taken Grafterr four weeks to turn round and admit their platform is for plasterers, bricklayers and bootfairs.

Which I'd already told them in December

And it's still the same cretins involved solving the same problems
