Bit of history

First ever

Me sat next to RMS

It was my 27th birthday

I'm 51 tomorrow

That's how long we have been doing Open Source

cloudguy,

@finn the smell in the room from damp wet geeks who had only left Delerium eight hours previously....

cloudguy,

@finn over 30m companies use my Open Source code commercially in 219 countries

Plus pFSense, IPFire, OPNSense, Endian all use my base code

I'm the old man of Linux security

cloudguy, (edited )

@boilingsteam

What RMS likes and dislikes nobody actually cares. I spent hundreds of hours with him. It was insufferable sometimes.

He is an educated sometimes charming man who I still respect but sometimes it grinded.

He did, how ever, sing me Happy Birthday on mic to 1100 people at FOSDEM once.

is always my birthday weekend

Someone found a photo of Sunderland footballer Charley Hurley arriving to sign for Sunderland in 1957

My late Dad is circled in red getting an autograph.

Ironic that they would be playing together six years later both wearing stripes.

I am sad to not be able to safely attend FOSDEM this year. There are so many people I want to spend time with.

However, as is the case with hundreds or maybe thousands of us past attendees, our immune systems can't handle the risk of such a crowded event that makes no effort to implement a health and safety plan.

SARS-CoV-2 viral load levels in Belgium this January were 43x what they were in July, as indicated by highly reliable wastewater sampling.

Safe events can still happen: @phpledge

I am the same reason

Only just come off steroids last week and I am not risking even public transport in the UK yet

Andrew Tate is a stain on mankind but The Guardian suggesting he is just part of a reaction to feminism is correct.

There had to be a massive huge overdue correction.

But to align it to Tate is silly.

It's just what happens when sensible folk get sick of a broken tainted narrative without substance in any situation.

A pushback to femininism and the whole over egging of diversity crap was always going to happen.

Everyone should be heard.

Literally nobody

Thankfully the world shakes stuff out eventually

cloudguy,

@samir Tate is an arsehole

Never planned on being a single parent. Having brought up my stepson 1996-2007 to age 18 I thought I was done.

Now with an almost teen and one not far behind, both mine biologically I approach 51 in single Dad mode having kicked their mum to touch at speed.

At least something amazing came out of such a stupid marriage. A total waste of 5 years of my life and bank balance but at least I have two reasons to be happy.

Meeting with the Police preceded by a pot of tea in the car, killing time working on laptop

cloudguy,

@Slash909uk I wish it was...

I have two car kettles

This one is older, recently repaired with hot glue. Works far quicker - about 8 mins to brew.

Other one takes 35 mins - chinese rubbish

cloudguy,

@nowster

I only just realised this

I bought this Acer in NYC and added an SSD same afternoon.

Now have a car charger so the laptop and it stay in the car so I never need to think twice.

So when it does it's always apt-get time

There is currently a potato in the bedroom that my 6yo daughter has named Dave. Until this moment Dave has been treated with lots of care and respect... but now I see that she's put a 99p sticker on Dave. I am so confused.

Sorry, Dave. I think your time in the spotlight will soon be up.

cloudguy,

@The_LynnyLyn so my 10 year old has a Butternut Squash called Skutternut Bosch.

cloudguy,

@The_LynnyLyn I do think it shows intelligence

And also a great deal of play sense

Happy children
