When did young people stop getting taught how to write in paragraphs? 😅​

Grading papers and it just mystifies me that so many don't seem to understand the idea that when you start a new topic/subject, you should start a new paragraph....rather than a 20-sentence-long paragraph that makes your teacher do the work to try to figure out if you actually are answering the different elements of the question. 😑​

@JoscelynTransient I was taught too many ways to make or consider when something should be a paragraph, and I've struggled with them since. (I've had this same issue with commas until recently.)

My experience as someone with ADHD and possibly autism led me to believe that most schools struggled with teaching English.

Had to check in with one of my employees today, who is a young trans person, to make sure the police hadn't abused him on the campus they're at. He's okay, but effectively in lockdown in his dorm because of security and police everywhere, and in-person classes and services getting moved online.

As he pointed, the students and others at the encampment on his campus didn't bother harass him one bit, but police and rabid media coverage have turned his life inside out even though he wasn't at an encampment.

The police are working really hard to convince a generation they are the problem, huh? Blargh

"The People's Joker" may....be my new favorite movie? Or at least my favorite movie in the last 5 to 10 years?

It is like the tim and eric show meets fantabulous trans memior fiction meets supervillian parody meets Nanette meets dada punk collage. Some people may find the aesthetic hard to sit through because the uncanny green screen and mixed media might be too disorienting or unpleasant. But like, for me, it was exactly the right kind of purposeful weirdness and earnest queerness.

And...it feels so obvious in some ways to a trans eye but in a way that is intimately obvious and not metaphorical while being obviously metaphorical and inobvious? Or it's just some fun queer weirdness

My wife's review, "I actually can't say anything bad about it. I want to find some reason to hate it....but i think i actually kind of like it? I should have gotten high first though, would have liked it more." 🤣

Taking a break from tge fedi for a few days

My brain is not engaging with the fedi in a healthy way at the moment - falling back into really bad adhd habits that are scattering my attention like crazy. And i really need to focus with my work this next week or so.

I hate how much my kinetic brain really struggles to interact with social technology in healthy ways

    Today's lecture involves depictions of queerness as threat I'm media....so I tried to express "not queer as in gay, but queer as in a threat" today 😈

    @JoscelynTransient I've only found transness in recent media for me. I'm mostly a video games and comics woman so took a while for any trans rep to get there :p

    Perhaps playing as fem or woman characters when I had a choice counts? Especially in games where I could customize how I looked.
