I personally do a restic backup on my server (I have a dedicated hetzner server), and keep a backup on the server itself, and do a backup to a backblaze bucket for an offsite backup.
I also have a restic check job run every week, that reads 10% of the random data making sure everything is fine and working correctly.
For my local machine I do the same but additionally backup also to an usb drive for a 3-2-1 backup solution.
This just gets worse and worse, but I still think the lack of sd card slot is the worst thing they never included in the pixel series, and now they are going ahead and fucking with the A series so that it’s barelly any cheaper than the flagship?
Google needs to take a steap back and reconsider it.
I’m currently debating on how to manage files on my servers. I have a jellyfin and a minecraft server on which I need to add, remove or download files quite often. I don’t really want to use scp for everything, so I was wondering what everyone uses....
Rsync is smart enough to be able to only send files you didnt’ have previously like a regular mv command.
Or you can sync the whole directory and have it also delete removed files.
Edit: If you wan’t something to automatically “sync/backup” the data, why don’t you try and use syncthing? P2P syncing solution that might be exactly what you need in your hse case.
When it comes to media like my music library and comics for example I just use rsync to move new ones to the server every time I collect some new (I have about 60gb of it)
No, I only have new files on my local machine, and as I collect new stuff I move them to my server with rsync and just remove it onthe local machine.
Rsync is more than smart enough to, if you keep same folder structure to easilly move the files to the server without you having to manually copy other each file.
Shitty thing is, emulators and emulation themself aren’t ilegall.
What nintendo attacked here is the fact yuzu was used to play copies of games for their still used and developed for system, doesn’t matter whether it was pirated or not to them, all they care about is the fact that it was a current gen system emulator and they didn’t like that fact because they think it hurts their sales.
Personally never bought anything nintendo cause I’m on the younger side, and by the time switch came to my country it was already too old and expensive for me to even consider it.
What do you mean spend mental energy on keybindings? Sure it will take you a couple times to do them to remenber them but after that you will just know them without having to think about them.
I don’t know if it took me more than a couple hours to learn enough keybindings to be more productive than in vscode, and later on I just learned more as I need them and am now able to use them without thinking about it.
I used to spend more time searching for the button to click with a mouse and remembering in what menu it was than it took me to learn and use vim keybindings.
I really wanted a modded Xbox 360 when I was younger because I thought being able to play ‘backed up’ games and having a custom dashboard was really neat....
Seasonal work is the kind of work 90% of the population in the country bere does, it’s literally the only thing available here. That’s why 95% of my friends and people my agre group left the country to search for careers. Because here to get started with a carrer you either need to have cosmic level of luck of habe somebody who will get you in.
I plan on leaving the country myself to be able to actually pursue a career but because of some circumstances I’m not able to atm.
Croatia, the number prob is too high but most people I know and see only work seasonal work here, tricky part here is that thay season work can be anywhere from 3 months to 10 months, depending on the job.
And on the note of teachers, doctors, … we are severelly lackijg then because people leave the country since the pay is so small that it pays of more to work a seasonal job than being any of them.
Not at all, also most my seasonal work is for 7- 10 months, so my income downtime isn’t that high but I still take time to make money in that downtime and make sure I have some income and apply for full time jobs.
I make something close to 35-50 job applications a month when I’m not working and last month of the season work, but barelly anyone will hire here when there isn’t a tourist season.
On the note of feeelancing I tried, but don’t really jave the skills to do it since I mostly like to do manual work, I’m not a fun of sitting at a computer to make money.
Mostly like this last month I have been painting the walls and assembling furniture for my grandmother that recently bought a new kitchen. Of course not for free, she wouldnt be able to bare it to not pay me for that work.
In most cases here, the woman doesn’t work because it’s very hard for them to get a job here. So they are in most cases just literally housewive with no income.
Backup solutions
Hands down, I’m way too late to the party with my backup-strategy, and I have no good explanation....
