The price difference to go from an 83 inch OLED to an 88 inch is just bonkers

danieldurrans,
@danieldurrans@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@christianselig The difference for me would be measured in the hundreds of thousands as I would need a new living room for a TV that big!

My dad flies ultralights and is also learning to do aerobatics... at the age of 70.

I am very glad that I found a website which will email me when he takes off and safely lands.

Emma is currently winning the “annoying question of the day" competition.

“Are you taking that with you?" - as I put an item of cloathing into my travel bag.

"I need a plug adaptor, can you get me one?” - I go and get her a plug adaptor - “Is this the one I need?” - no, I thought I would get her the one for an entirely different country.

I may have been watching too much Shogun.

The cats now have a lovely zen-garden litter tray.

I am not sure which of my two cats, Costa and Starbuck, have the zoomies... but one or both of them are running up and down the stairs and making a hell of a racket.

Screwfix customer services chat is great.

I did a click and collect order to the branch near where I work. Completely forgot to pick it up before driving home and won't be in the office again for a few weeks.

Their chat person (at 6pm) very quickly switched the order to the branch closest to home and apologised that she was slow (she wasn’t).

It feels so rare to get good customer service these days.

Obviously it sucks that Farage is back but on the up side it’s great that we get to watch his smarmy, fascist face get a daily milkshake bukakke.

danieldurrans,
@danieldurrans@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@girlonthenet I read that they fine you the cost of dry cleaning his suit (less than £400) which sounds pretty reasonable. I am sure a go fund me could be started to cover however many days of that are needed.

One of the takes I got from EMF was realising that I really need to get my hearing tested. A lifetime of loud gigs may be catching up with me. I think I said "sorry, what?" while cupping my ear too many times and I'm not just talking about in Null Sector.

danieldurrans,
@danieldurrans@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@mw1cgg Is it hearing or is it distinguishing speech from background noise? I have issues with the latter but my hearing is very sharp otherwise.

The good thing about a negative covid test is that I am positive I don't have covid.

The bad thing is that I have a normal cold and as such I invoke the right of man-flu.

If I didn't realise that all customer surveys have a negative impact on the people you have dealt with, I would answer every one with “zero stars, was very satisfied until yet another bloody customer satisfaction survey hit my inbox”

There are definitely times when the Urge to do Journalism bites. For example: I'm sat drinking a coffee overlooking Whitstable harbour. There's a ship unloading, and I search for the name. This leads me to find out that it was impounded earlier this year for a bunch of safety violations, and is owned by a reasonably elaborate bunch of shell companies. Probably nothing illegal, but quite a lot of playing "pass the asset" from one company to another.

danieldurrans,
@danieldurrans@mastodon.me.uk avatar

@ianbetteridge Which can be the same as IT... if you think your job is writing [code], you're in for a disappointment.

Reading the EasyJet rules on batteries...

“Please note - there is a limit of 15 portable electronic devices per passenger.”

"A maximum of 2 spare batteries may be carried."

Is that per device or in total?

I don't think EasyJet entirely appreciates what the modern geek & photographer needs to survive on holiday.
