Having had both, I can say that with the framework you get a much better display, but you lose the trackpoint. The framework has better repairability, but has less IO. The hardware on the framework is well supported on Linux, but can be hit or miss on thinkpads, especially newer ones.

The only thing I’m really missing on the framework is the black thinkpad chassis - can’t really get used to the aluminum.

I’ve been using Fedora for many years (Nobara is just a fling) and updates were always remarkably stable. That being said, if you’ve played around with the configuration you might have issues, but if you stay with the standard install you shouldn’t expect problems.

Reading about Bluefin got me so interested that I just installed it on my laptop. After updating, it’s still at 39. How do I update it to 40?

EDIT: just figured it out:

sudo rpm-ostree rebase ostree-image-signed:docker://ghcr.io/ublue-os/bluefin-dx:latest

Just installed Bluefin and I also like the way that the base OS, GUI apps and CLI programs are partitioned. I enable auto updates - does anyone know how I get informed that an update happened, and that I should reboot?

Was mich als ehemaligen Fotonerd bei der Szene zum unteren Bild mäßig triggerte: der Kameramann schoss ein Bild nach dem anderen, kam mit dem Spulen gar nicht hinterher. Mit einer Rollfilmkamera. Einer Mamiya RB 67, der maximal 20 Bilder pro Spule 220er Rollfilm schießen kann, oder 16 Bilder in 645er Format mit 120er.

Ich war wesentlich zurückhaltender mit meiner Mamiya, habe allerdings nicht die Finanzen von Vault-Tec.

While I can fully understand his pain, I can’t quite follow how adding a paid subscription model will make his life easier (except financially).

Before, he had to deal with entitled asshats, and now he’ll have to deal with asshats feeling even more entitled, because they paid for it.

Yep, OP uses his Switch way more than expected. The Deck is an extremely flexible device in a similar form factor. I’ve been able to beat so many games in my backlog with it, just excellent.

Beyond the proven addictive effects of handing a dopamine device to your kid, there are legal ramifications many parents aren’t aware of.

WhatsApp and TikTok aren’t just there like air, free for all to consume. They are service providers and both sides are bound by a contract, the EULA. IIRC, WhatsApp recently reduced it minimum age from 16 to 12. So if you install WhatsApp on your 8 year old’s phone, you have broken the contract.

I went on a trip through the Ardennes and the weather was horrible. Hailstorms with hail sticking to my visor and lining the street, half an hour later sunshine. Heavy rain a whole day long.

The rain liners did their job. The pant liner has an elastic to keep it in place and I was able to put it on and take it off over my boots (with a bit of struggling). There also isnt any v cut. The water didn’t puddle anywhere or creep in. Actually, the only parts of me that got wet were my fingers because the gloves were absolutely waterlogged!

Maybe you had a different model liner?
