Me to myself: You feel sick, stop eating these Trader Joe's peanut butter cups.

Also me: Keep going…

When I see this on my oven I want to take it into a field and bash it like Michael Bolton in Office Space

Huge amount of awesome new features coming to Apple platforms this year. My favorites are a new reader mode added to Magnifier and Hover Typing (a large-text typing experience on iOS). Another great Global Accessibility Awareness Day! https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/05/apple-announces-new-accessibility-features-including-eye-tracking/

Check out this great segment from CBS. It features Jordyn Zimmerman who is nonspeaking, and uses Live Speech on iPad to communicate. Our team created this feature to help give everyone a voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTECNar9yG4

I am looking for a macro pad that can pair via Bluetooth to iOS (presenting as a vanilla keyboard I assume). I want to be able to program the buttons to send a sequence of key commands.

Something like a Maglodon or a Huion Keydial Mini.

Anyone know of a model that will work with iOS out of the box?

Where are you all getting your espresso beans lately? The local stuff I like is now $18.50 for 10 ounces which is just too expensive.

How accessible do blind people find New York? The intersection walk signs don’t make noise, the drivers bikers and walkers are all very aggressive, and there are tons of unexpected obstacles everywhere. I imagine it is not great place to navigate.

Does anyone know of any good resources or tutorials that cover modern web development from the perspective of someone who just needs a refresher / whats new in the last 5 years?

A conference attendee was trying to explain to my colleague how to do accessibility on iOS. I was like, buddy she literally wrote the software you are taking about.

I'll be giving a talk again this year at CSUN about a variety of VoiceOver and low-vision features available in iOS. If you are attending or are in Anaheim next week (March 18th-22nd) come say hi!

Here is an overview of some of the features that can be found on Apple Vision Pro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1DLpGWOUsk

As a low vision user, Zoom and Pointer Control are my two favorite and essential features to turn on.

Ugh water can be such a nightmare to deal with when a leak occurs. A tiny little leak in a heating manifold has lead to our condo, and the condos for all floors below us needing serious demolition and restoration work.

The Charts framework is among my favorite SwiftUI APIs. The composition of UI elements makes perfect sense to me and I can put together some really cool visuals with not much effort.

I “upgraded" from the Breville BES870XL (that everybody owns at this point) to the Terra Kaffe TK-01 a while ago. After coming back to the Breville for the holidays... it is so much better 😅. It makes better coffee, its easer to clean, its way less fussy about setting it up and maintaining it. The only thing i like better about the TK-01 is the puck disposal.

This is a cool milestone: 365 consecutive days with 10k steps or more. Thanks to my team for the miles of walking one-on-ones ha. Laps around Apple Park really add up.

Check out this video for Personal Voice and Live Speech that my team worked on. These features on iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch let you continue to communicate in a voice that sounds like you if you ever lose your ability to speak. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra9I0HScTDw&t=32s

I was watching this video on C++ smart pointers and all I could think was that I'm so happy I spend most of my time in Swift these days where this type of programming just isn't required any more.

Wasting time fighting with C / fixing runtime bugs that the compiler should be able to catch is so un-fun. I just want to work on the cool shit I'm interested in and get it done quickly and correctly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSIBKys2eBQ

How can I get audio nearly latency-free, wirelessly to my noggen? I want to practice piano with wireless headphones but finding a solution is proving to be really difficult. I thought I could simply use bluetooth but the latency is terrible.
