deepfriedchril,

Tendon after 6 or so hours simmering or 1 hour in a pressure cooker and you got my favorite pho add in.

deepfriedchril,

Did you freehand the cuts or use the chopsticks/skewers assisted method?

deepfriedchril,

Artic is replacing that cooler with a newer model. Try to get a good deal on the previous version or swap to the new model.

deepfriedchril,

It would be nice to have a quick action to change thumbnails to the opposite side.

deepfriedchril,

Just opposite of the current position. Would only apply to views where thumbnails can be on one side of course (small, smaller, compact)

deepfriedchril,

Only the headphone jack crackle issue mentioned.

Is MSI Afterburner still a must?

Back in 2007 I built myself a gaming PC with two brand new GTX 8800 cards (SLI, baby!) and nearly cooked/choked them to death in first week of operation. What I learned back then was that nVidia drivers did not create a proper fan curve that would ramp up with rising temperatures and that I needed a piece of 3rd party software...

deepfriedchril, (edited )

It is not the drivers that dictate the fan but the GPU bios. So how the card behaves depends on how the manufacturer tuned it which is to say, these days it’ll work fine. Many “high end” cards usually have a bios switch for silent or turbo mode so whatever.

Back when I had a 1080ti, I used afterburner to set my own fan curve. And now with my rx6900xt I use AMD’s adrenaline because it actually works great for many things including setting a custom fan curve . I’ve heard Nvidia’s first party software was a bit of a mess for oc stuff so that’s why Afterburner became so popular but I never installed anything past Nvidia’s drivers so maybe it’s good now, who knows.

deepfriedchril,

I’m not sure. Like I said, I never installed more than just the drivers from them when I had a Nvidia GPU. Just heard that whatever software they had wasn’t great.

deepfriedchril,

It depends more on how much time you want to spend on post processing and how detailed the part is. Teller layers means more time spent filling and smoothing.

You can print at .2 layer height with a .6 noz and benefit from a thicker line width, giving you stronger parts but the overall time to print will still be similar compared to a .4 noz.

deepfriedchril,

If your options are limited, it might be helpful to list them.

deepfriedchril,

I actually started listening to his Avalon album again, so good.

deepfriedchril,

Even the steam deck’s touch pads could be moved up more imo however, these look to be pretty much unusable.

deepfriedchril,

Does Dvorak count? I switched over when I made an egrodox style keyboard which in itself made typing generally more comfortable.

deepfriedchril,

Any reason you don’t use a finer layer height?

What's the best way to manage wallpapers on multiple monitors?

I recently figured out my new setup, but one thing I’ve been struggling with are my wallpapers. I use 3 monitors, one 21:9 and two 16:9s, one of which is portrait. As a result, my wallpaper situation is messy since wallpapers for one don’t work on the others. On my old setup, I just had a big folder of backgrounds I...

deepfriedchril,

Lock out when climbing, low speed when you need a little give i.e. climbing and it’s bumpy or more xc stuff. Suspension absorbs energy, this includes you pedaling. Locking it out or reducing it allows the effort you make while peddling be more effective. Some people lock it out when doing jumps too.

deepfriedchril,

You should set the psi for your weight and check that once in a while as part of your normal maintenance. Flipping between the different modes is as you feel necessary. Generally this means flip to lock out when you expect sustained climbing, slow for mostly flat sections, and open when going down hill. This is how I personally use the lock out feature when I ride.

Ultrawide or multi-monitor setup?

I have a two monitor set up going right now hooked up to a dual display KVM switch. Sadly, a recent power outage has caused some finicky behavior in either my KVM or my secondary monitor, since it comes in and out. Will get around to debugging my setup once I have some time this holiday season, but I was also debating on...

deepfriedchril,

Also do software. Went from a triple monitor (1080 portrait, 1440 landscape, 1080 portrait) to super ultra wide. The biggest reason was my work laptop only supports two 1440 or one 4k monitors so I use the ultra wide in picture by picture mode.

I miss the vertical space for reading documents but that’s kind of it. There is enough horizontal space to have my work open with slack/email/whatever on the side since it’s basically two monitors but without the bezel.

I’ve been enjoying the ultra wide way more when gaming vs the single 1440, by a lot. Don’t think I could go back now however I play a lot of fps games that will use the whole monitor.

The only annoying thing is I need to switch to input mode whenever I switch computers but this might not apply to you if all devices can support the native resolution.

deepfriedchril,

Any big issues aside from the whole 12v battery dying thing?

deepfriedchril,

What sold you over the ioniq 5? I’ve been looking at the new ID.7 and the Ioniq 5. The 400v battery architecture is the only thing really holding me back from 100% committing to the ID.7

deepfriedchril,

Higher battery voltage can charge faster and drive motors more efficiently (don’t quote me on that part). That’s why the Ioniq can do the really fast DC fast charging. For home charging it doesn’t really matter, but on long distance trips that’s less time spent charging.

I may be placing too much importance in that aspect since I have little experience with ev’s.

deepfriedchril,

TIL I’ll have to check on those other clients too, thanks p
