If you ran those scripts while subreddits were dark, the script can’t see those comments you made in those particular subs, (they’re hidden along with the sub) and can’t delete them. Then later when the sub comes back to public mode, your comments will appear as well. So comments you thought you wiped were simply hiding.
Just to add, also check the other sections on your comments when deleting (eg: hot/controversial) because sometimes those ones get missed by the scripts as well.
Not to say that’s the only thing going on… wouldn’t surprise me if they are bringing back some stuff considering their history of shenannigans.

Especially considering it’s been a DoD problem for many, many years now. The audits they talk about in the article date back to as far as 2017… this isn’t a new issue.

Years ago I used to use Comodo, but quit because each update felt like one step closer to sketchiness from them. I ended up finding Simplewall on github, (a nice, simple, straight to the point firewall) and never looked back.
I managed to touch the neighborhood stray cat this morning. “Smokey” (named by someone else) has been a stray living nearby for at least 5 years now that I know of. She will not let anyone close to her, but I’ve been working on that for the last while now. After countless bags of treats tuna and ham, I’m the only person she trusts enough to get close to and she even comes running when I call her. (Expecting treats of course.) She still takes offense to me trying to pet her, but we’re working on that. (I can’t home her as I have several cats already, but at least I can try and make her semi-comfy as she is getting old.)
I managed to germinate a couple peach seeds, and planted them today. I’ll probably end up killing them by over or under watering, but for now I consider the fact I got this far great success.
here in Canada I know of a few spots nearby these are growing, just north of the states border. Crazy to think if they were growing just a few miles south of where they are, they’d be on a hit list.
30 DAYS TO GET MY DATA! So I put in a data requet last week with reddit and it said it would take a few days. Yesterday I inquired to its status as I had not received anything and they repsonded that it might take 30 days. Im not sure if this is bs to keep their account numbers up or they are just innundated with requests.
The more people see the engagement, the more chance of them asking "what is that?" It won't be long until the apps are better, and links to articles could be less likely to get suppressed than migration memes....
This is pissing me off to no end. I went on reddit and signed in out of habbit as I have a couple times already and before my account was gone and it wouldnt let me sign in....
I just want to point out that if you use one of those comment deleter apps (powersuite, shreddit etc) they cannot delete comments from private subs as they are hidden. So if you tried deleting your stuff while subs are marked private those comments will not be deleted and will reappear on your profile once the sub(s) go back to normal mode. (at the time I'm writing this, there's still 3600 subs currently dark according to https://reddark.untone.uk/ so if you commented in any one of them marked private you'll have to wait for them to come back to public mode to erase them.)
Also, when they do come back they won't always show up normally in your profile. I've had to flip between hot/new/controversial a few times to see them all as they pop back up.
Oh it wouldn't surprise me at all if reddit is pulling stunts like that as well, (especially considering who's running things there and their history with editing comments) but on my main account there I noticed over 160 comments appeared from subs that were participating in the blackout after I thought I had wiped everything.
So far I haven't deleted my account so that I can check back in every couple of days to catch any stray messages/posts that had been missed by the subs being private, and had to delete a good number of them since as the subs slowly come back. It looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit longer yet to ensure everything's gone before I axe that account.
When you use delete apps like powerdeletesuite or shreddit they cannot delete comments from private subs because they're hidden. So when those subs come back to normal mode, so will your comments. So all those people that used apps like that while the blackout is going on will have their comments appear again as subs reopen. Not saying reddit isn't also bringing comments back, (I wouldn't put it past them tbh) but a lot of it is just because of subs being private and the comments getting missed by the apps.
When you use a comment deleter app they cannot delete comments from subs marked private. (They're hidden) So if you ran a deleter app in the last week while the subs were protesting a lot of your comments wouldn't have been axed on the participating subs. Once the subs come back to normal from private mode, you'll see those comments appear even though you thought you deleted everything. I've had over 200 comments come back from as far back as 11 years ago due to that.
