The big + of a For You feed is to surface posts you could have missed that have great replies/conversations going on. I love to read people's opinions.
The only thing we have that is close enough is explore -> trending, but that is not enough.

I want something to surface posts in my timeline with x amount of replies. Sure, I could do it in @IceCubesApp, but this is not easy when purely client side.

Unpopular opinion: If you have a job, you should not use an adblocker. You can actually pay for the premium platforms if you don't want to see ads. Why should the internet be free for you, and why should content creators not get any money if you watch them? I have never used an Adblocker in my life. The free internet is not powered by cotton candy.

Yesterday I got a new car. All new, very nice. The second photo is today. A very stupid part broke. The trunk door basically can’t close anymore. Really amazing!

Ice Cubes have some very visible slowdown when scrolling the timeline on the Vision Pro. I’ve tried everything I can, and I can’t isolate it. The profiler gives me nothing interesting, and I’ve been attempting to remove every view one by one and come to no real conclusion. I have no idea what is going on. My guess is that it’s the iOS micro stutters people are telling me about but more visible but I’m not even sure anymore.

Everyone is so salty here about Meta. I've been online my whole life, I'm ok giving away some privacy for services.I know it's not only public posts, but you know, an iOS app won't simply steal your data. Threads is not uploading all my photos, threads is not locating me, threads is not accessing my health data. Sure the privacy sheet is ugly. But iOS give you control.

To be honest tho, I don't give a fuck. If I wanted to be off the grid I would not have a phone or be on Mastodon.

For people afraid that Threads will "steal" your data / exploit it? Do you know that posting public posts, on a non private instance allow anyone to do so? Literally anyone can retrieve all your public posts and do whatever with them. Meta could do the same, and they don't need Threads for that. I really don't get the point.

People have such strong opinion on there. @IceCubesApp really have been a design by comity effort. I have a setting for basically almost everything and it still not enough. If I was doing anything else than a Mastodon app, I would never add that many settings, the app should have strong opinions too!

Pin people at the top of your timeline (like Instagram stories, etc..), and whenever you refresh your timeline, you can tap on their pictures to see their most recent posts in your timeline context. You can also see their posts only, for example.

I’ve made a successful Mastodon client, I love it here but I’m still very active on X and I also love it there. People are shitting over X all days on my timeline on Mastodon but nobody cares about Mastodon on X. I would say maybe it’s time to stop shitting on everything else than Mastodon here.

Indeed. This is what I believe. Healthy competition is good for everyone. EU got us this hot mess because EU Suits don't understand anything about what they're doing. There is a difference between deciding USB-C is an appropriate standard (good) and meddling with company internal affairs.

Finished Doom I, Doom II, on my way to finish Sigil. Now I wonder what to do next. Doom II master levels, or Doom 64 (started) or some other megawad. I had more fun playing all this Doom than any other modern games. Just pure fun, no bullshit.
