Another game completed this year! Horizon: Forbidden West is an unusual case for me of a game that I don't particularly connect with narratively or on a gameplay level, but that it so striking gorgeous (technically and artistically) that I played the whole thing just to see the amazing things it would show me.

Definitely preferred the first game, but I don't know if it's changed since then or I have.

It's a visual treat no matter what, though, and that's worth something.

🤔 Dear conference organizers, please learn from #PyTexas if you are doing a hybrid conference with in-person and online attendees.

➡️ Q&A should only be done via an online tool so both your in-person and online attendees can ask questions.

✨ That way, you can sort them, vet them, and everyone gets a chance to participate.

💯 This is way better than handing someone in the audience a hot mic so they can give an impromptu lightning talk disguised as a question. 👎

🏡 First lawn day of the year.

It's a little early in the season, but we went to our favorite, Vinland Valley Nursery, to pick up some Hostas, and a few other plants we knew could deal with any unexpected overnight chills that may still come our way.

Woke up not feeling quite right this morning. Instead of fretting about it for three days like I normally do, I made an appointment with a clinic nearby. A few hours later, I had a preliminary diagnosis, a treatment plan, and a follow-up schedule. Pretty cool.

I recognize that there are a number of reasons going to the doctor isn’t a desirable/feasible option for many, but in this case, I’m thankful it worked out the way it did.
