These private hospitals do none (or very little) of the training of junior doctors and student nurses. They are utterly dependant on NHS trained staff or overseas trained staff. They can reap the profits with none of the junior staff training costs.

100 years ago today, music's first twelve-note work (as opposed to containing some twelve-note writing), Schoenberg's Suite, op.25, was premiered by Eduard Steuermann in Vienna, in the Konzerthaus's Mozart-Saal. Here is the first movement, played by Maurizio Pollini. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fy6t8yXPcSQ @classicalmusic

This sounds great to me. I did, almost, manage to play some of his piano pieces many years ago. It’s fascinating how melodic they become once there’s familiarity.

I wonder what it was like to hear this for the first time, a 100 years ago, when there was nothing else like it to gently ease you into this new experience.

@RickiTarr I entirely agree. The old idea of a festive season spread out over the best part of two weeks, is a much better idea.

To anyone going private: don't.

The NHS always picks up the pieces when private healthcare can't recover from its mistakes.

There are no private A&Es. And you may think you've jumped the queue or saved the NHS some work.. but you'll be back, with a whole load of undocumented work you paid thousands for and now some unlucky NHS professional has to undo and fix it as best they can.

@lostsettler Also, private hospitals and clinics often exclude the management of chronic illness, which is the majority of the population’s need as our demographics change to an older average age. As soon as you have a long term condition that limits income, private medicine is not interested.

Pedantry alert!!!

Best not to confuse a perception pathology (hearing voices, other hallucinations) with a thinking pathology (delusions). We don’t know which is the problem here. Probably neither. It’s much more likely to be that age old trick of inventing a direct God connection to cement in the entitlement to power.

This is just a blatant re-invention of the mediaeval ‘Divine Right of Kings’. A desperate power grab strategy.
