Due to concerns his music was radicalising the youth, the US government has taken the necessary step of banning hip-hop artist Macklemore and branding him a terrorist organisation. Any American who has bought a Macklemore record in the past 12 months is to be expelled from university and put on a no-fly list.

Israel is understood to be rejecting a permanent ceasefire deal due to concerns that Hamas would release all of the hostages.

Israel had initially suggested a 40-day ceasefire where all hostages would be released and the IDF would then exterminate everyone in Rafah.

The weather in Gettysburg was warm on July 2, 1863.
By early afternoon, the temperature was in the low 80s.
So, Daniel Sickles, the commander of a Union force of more than ten thousand men, set up his field headquarters beneath this tree on Peter Trostle’s farm.

The tree was then seventy-five years old and of good size.

Its shade offered a welcome respite from the damp heat wafting across the open farm fields.

His name was Jewett Curtis, a Vermont boy born in 1847.

When he was fourteen, he enlisted as a drummer with a New York infantry regiment.

The next year, on July 1, 1863, Jewett was one of 309 members of his unit to try, but fail, to hold the Union line on Oak Ridge, during the battle at Gettysburg.
