Saying “I support the right of Jewish people to exist” is already a little weird to me since I don’t see that as questionable (guess it is for some) but it definitely sounds bad if you add a “but” on the end. That’s not as supportive as you think it is, people who keep saying it.
Hooboy... the largest left populist movement in the world is wild.
“No cause can justify such degradations that dirty the memory of the victims of the #Shoah and of the Righteous who saved #Jews at risk to their lives,” she said"
@TonyStark after this famous photo was taken they answered the phone of of one of the victims and told his wife her husband was dead and then they marched through the streets one of the holding up a heart in the air.
This incident is what the red hands stuff refers to.
Gross shit happens in conflicts. Choosing to use those as symbols is fucking weird. Choosing to use those symbols to deface memorials to the dead on another continent is full cycle back to gross.
The ability to turn anything into a nutty Jewish conspiracy is Europe's greatest gift to the world and modern society since the large hadron collider changed the timeline.
“So I want to ask you all, is Palestinian life not worth mourning? And we, as Arab, Palestinian, Muslim, and anti-Jewish students, are we not worth protecting?”
its shabbat but i need to get this off my chest before i chill a bit.
it is a clear sign of a society in decline when blatant antisemitism is both normalized, ignored and at times casually excused across the world.
i dont know if people realize this but a pandora's box has been opened that is nearly impossible to close. you have given fascists power that they will take as far as they possibly can.
this is a direct warning to the antisemites of the fediverse and the world, especially those engaging in antisemitism whilst being in marginalized communities of their own.
you are not punching up. you are not standing against a powerful group of people. you are not standing against your oppressors. you are actually actively giving your oppressors power.
this does not end with jews. it never does. remember that, especially when you ignore or question jews who attempt to point out antisemitism when they see it.
If you’re replying to me and refusing to read what I wrote, I’m way too busy to keep explaining it. So if you get blocked today after I’ve stated it over and over and the initial post is clear, you’ll know what happened.
It’s not the first time I’ve done it and I really do not care who you are.
@judah I think we need to be a little careful of rhetoric.
The two audiences of people whose opinions on Israel matter to me (other than Israelis) are diaspora Jews and Palestinians.
Many of those Jews and many of those Palestinians would consider themselves pro-palestinian and a small number of Jews and large number of Palestinians might consider themselves some type of antizionist (some of which I would find objectionable and some of which I wouldn't).
What I don't care about is all these crackerbarrel MFers spouting opinions over their chicken fried steaks.
Contrary to allegations, I don't "wake up grumpy". I wake up normal & then immediately have to deal w/ some bullshit or other, which results in me becoming grumpy.
Boycotting hillel and demanding its removal from campuses is antisemitism. It is one of the few Jewish life organizations at American universities. Stop.
@emmaaum not new. About 2ish months ago the Pali Action Team demanded that Rutgers sever ties with Hillel and that executive Director Lisa Glass be fired.
This may be separate from the core student demands. I'm pretty sure I don't really understand the student dynamics within their coalitions.
