When engaging in advocacy a thing I see a lot of is people just completely disregarding their mental health for the sake of engaging with upsetting topics or in some cases forcing upsetting topics onto other people with disregard for the mental impact it’ll have on others. The world is fucked up without a doubt, but constantly fixating on doom and negativity is really bad for you and not taking at least a breather will inevitably lead to burn out and apathy. It’s a common issue I see a lot of gen zers fall in and it’s distressing know where that will end up.

In an emergency you put on your own oxygen mask before helping others put theirs on. It serves well to remember that in life. You can’t help others if you aren’t in the position to.
