@VegaHarmonia@eris I ain’t even gonna lie, as much as crypto sucks for the environment XMR (monero) on a hardware wallet like a ledger is pretty tight. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go ahead and use that unless there’s a need (don’t treat crypto like stocks unless you want to be laughed at by the rest of us but I dont hate people who just have to use it for certain things). Anyone who still uses ETH though :kekw:
@eris It does not require you to be an expert at computers to read things. There's a ton of resources out there to help new users, there's people like me who are WILLING to spend the time to help people learn linux. I do not go out of my way but if someone mentions me "Hey @puppygirlhornypost I know you're a sysadmin who does a lot of linux and windows things, tinkers a bit with stuff like BSDs do you mind explaining something like wheel to me?" I would be more than happy to. If i didn't have the time to respond, I have a lot of people I follow who are more than happy to.
@eris My coverage of the BSDs and things like Solaris is kind of lacking, but I do take the time to read through manpages and try to answer your question if I do not know it off the top of my head. This helps me reinforce my manpage reading skills and diagnostics. I like doing this, it is one of my favorite parts of my job is sitting there trying to fix a problem I have. https://transfem.social/notes/9tecjicwnau700sa believe it or not I enjoy tinkering with system internals more than I enjoy trying to replace a cable I just have to email my boss a link to and get him to approve it. My favorite part of being a sysadmin is going neck deep into complicated systems and figuring out what broke them, how to prevent it from happening again.
i kinda dont like the constant insistence at no javascript personal sites. i do understand it, but like. it's fun. making my personal website do weird dynamic or functional stuff with code is cool.
