If Europe Federalizes, what happens with the monarchs? As much as I am a republican, I know the Dutch and Scandies like their monarchs, so it doesn't feel right to force republicanism on them.
Republics and kingdoms existing within the same country just sounds weird. Is there anything like that?
@archliberal@Minnewegian oh right the HRE is a good example, where the component states were feudal, clerical, and republican. Though oftentimes the HRE was more similar to a Supra-national organization (like the EU) than a state itself.
Yeah I was really tempted to get the Beyerdynamics. And the AKG K612. And the ATH-R70x. And the Hifiman Sundara/Edition XS (good sales rn). And some Grados. It’s strange how affordable all these classic headphones are as an adult - I used to lust after them as a teenager.
But I’m not going to let myself buy more headphones until I prove that I’ll actually use them. I have too many (cheaper) headphones sitting in drawers already.
Some cicada devotees, like author and entomologist Greg Kritsky, have already witnessed Brood XIII emerge a couple of times. But for most of their predators, a brood emergence happens once in a lifetime, and it’s always an extremely pleasant surprise. “It’s a food bonanza,” Kritsky says, “like if you walked outside and found the whole world swarming with flying Hershey’s Kisses.”
Cicadas are shockingly chill, protein-packed, and taste like high-end shrimp—easy, delicious prey.
