@fivey the universe in A Fire Upon the Deep kind of works like that. Advanced computers can only operate in certain areas of the galaxy. Planets in the "slow zone" can only support primitive civilization. And solar systems can drift into the slow zone, resulting in their technology gradually becoming inoperable.
@fivey i can't stand my work iPhone, but I feel its a good example of the ecosystem. I don't know how there are so many fans when you are faced with no set back button, weird non-intuitive gestures, only now getting not crap browsers, and being locked down on nearly everything while paying double for the hardware.. most complaints about Android hardware don't compare iphones to comparative flagships, but otherwise to each their own I guess...
@fivey so many such cases, yet personally that doesn't help reduce the vibes of how much effort a phone call takes even when I see it proven time and again. Brains are weird.
@archliberal@fivey Early on with USB-C, I spent like 8hrs researching and looking for a USB-C cable that would work with a Nintendo Switch and a power bank. I think the Switch had some weird PD implementation.
@MrHandyMan@fivey I've had my 80ohm DT770s for 14 years now and absolutely love them. I know closed-back isn't the audiophile preferred choice but I love the deep bass and isolation they provide
Yeah I was really tempted to get the Beyerdynamics. And the AKG K612. And the ATH-R70x. And the Hifiman Sundara/Edition XS (good sales rn). And some Grados. It’s strange how affordable all these classic headphones are as an adult - I used to lust after them as a teenager.
But I’m not going to let myself buy more headphones until I prove that I’ll actually use them. I have too many (cheaper) headphones sitting in drawers already.
