Maybe you all knew about this, but @davidho has just introduced me to this useful tool for expanding your Mastondon world:

It looks at the people you follow and the people they follow and ranks them by the number of follows from your followed. Hopefully you will find some people who were on here all along but who you hadn't found yet - I did.

@mapto @ChrisWilms23 @neilhoskins @helenczerski @davidho @freemo The way Followgraph is implemented is meant to preseve privacy: it uses inauthenticated requests to make sure Followgraph does not need to receive or store user data.

Specifically, it uses this API endpoint: https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/accounts/#following

The documentation says "OAuth: Public". Some implementations accept inauthenticated requests, but some choose not to.

This is why Followgraph doesn't always work.

A few days ago I've built https://followgraph.vercel.app in about a working day, and it's just crossed the 10k visitors threshold. Compared to my day job where numbers are in the billions, this isn't much.

But it's still very exciting: I've traded ~8 hours of my time to add value to >10 thousand people. As a rough approximation, that's ~3 seconds per user. If the value they got out of the tool exceeds 3 seconds' worth on average, I've succeeded.
