galaxi,

I love the idea of going out and having tasty drinks with friends without the pressure of needing to be intoxicated. Think of it this way - if alcohol was the only reason people were going to bars, why even have cocktails to cover up the taste of it? To me it seems to fall very much in line with the other trends of society lately, like with bubbly fruity waters or healthier versions of soda. I've seen more and more people abstaining from alcohol for reasons beyond addiction. Wanting to be healthier and live life without a hangover, taking care of their bodies, challenging social norms of what's considered fun, replacing alcohol intoxication with other kinds, trying to connect in more authentic ways.

Personally I find myself drawn to these new ways of living too, and even though I still drink on occasion, I feel a lot better when I don't and I'm glad there are alternatives that are all-in (rather than just ordering a soda at the bar).

galaxi,

It's unfortunate that tildes is invite-only. I also secretly wish they would federate their website with us somehow, but I guess we can't have everything. :p

galaxi,

YES!! Thanks for the update! It would've taken me ages to notice!

The internet is great again, thanks to all of you 🙂

I'm 32, I remember using the internet before google was a thing, discovering flashy websites, hanging out on all kinds of internet forums and chatrooms, ebaums world, MySpace, new grounds... I rember when YouTube was just starting off and it was exploding with all kinds of content....

galaxi,

This is so cool!! I don't think I was ever as excited for a gift as I'm sure those kids were! Beyond thoughtful to personalize them with names. I would keep mine forever. You're going to make your daughter very popular, I'm sure hahah.

galaxi,

I've had some good times journaling, but it's been hard for me to start up as a regular practice. I never know what to write about. Do you have any suggestions from your own experience on what to focus on for someone that's just getting started?

galaxi,

Mr. Robot. I didn't realize that they had added two more seasons since I last watched it. It's been a great watch with all the big internet shifts lately.

galaxi,

PETG is truly a pain!! You'd think with a plastic used in water bottles, it would do better with moisture. I recommend the brand CC3D if you want something reliable (and ultra cheap!) Also remember that PETG needs more room between the nozzle and the build plate (higher z offset) so that the filament doesn't stick to the nozzle and make a mess :)

galaxi,

I wish I could paint like this. Absolutely dreamy ❤️

galaxi,

I had a similar result by a psychiatrist that not only didn't diagnose me, but also didn't help me with any of my other issues either. She told me to get an ADHD coach and then charged me hundreds of $ out the butt for not helping with anything. You should feel proud of yourself for still trucking on forward despite the rejections.

Also just so you know, I know the people who diagnosed you were specialists, but I could have recalled that the ADHD exam will often show a deficiency in one area even if your other scores are soaring! So I think it's honestly totally reasonable that you got the results you did. I hope that the diagnosis gives you some peace of mind and direction for your next steps, both in meds and emotional/life functioning business. :)

galaxi,

Make sure your nozzle is high enough too. Whereas PLA needs to be squished down against the build plate, PETG should 'lay' down from the nozzle. Or else it will stick to the nozzle instead of the previous layer. If you're manually leveling using the paper method, you would want to use something thicker like a note card instead of the usual sheet of paper.

galaxi,

Loving your posts. This one cracked me up.

galaxi,

That's not a printer. That's furniture. 😃

galaxi,

Prusa is top of the line for open source and very much falls into "works out of the box". The other bed-slinger style printers like Ender are cheap but tend to have issues and are a money-sink for upgrades to get them working (lots of mods there). If you're into hacking and modding stuff though, look into Voron printers. I'm not sure if any of the Voron versions fall into your budget, but you can buy a kit or do open-source. They're self-built, extremely fast, customizable, and really meant for the people in the printing community who like to program and mod things.
